Costochondritis

I'm a little confused about costochondritis. I clicked the link in Fibro 101 and read the page. It is describing the pain as heart-like and on the left side of the breastbone. I don't have that kind of pain, but I do have the very tight hug pain that has been described by people here. My rib cage doesn't want to open like it should. It hurts to breathe too deep, which often causes me to cough. The most pain is on the sides of my ribs, nowhere near my breastbone. But it does stretch around to my spine, though it might be more radiating than spreading. It's hard to tell. What do you guys think? I have a Rheumie appointment on Monday, but I wanted to see what the masses think and then bounce off of him.

Woo! Strangers care about me! XD <3 I'm writing up a list of things at the moment so I don't forget anything. Often times when I end up in doctor's offices, I have a list in my head of things I need to ask and then afterwards in the car I'm like "Whoa...I forgot EVERYTHING..." I need to have my rheumie look at a CT scan I had, too. I've been having this weird "the contesnts of my abdomen are trying to rip thier way through the muscle" feeling when I drive for long distances, too. My GP said there was nothing on the CT scan, but I took a look at it and it looks to me (the untrained eye) that there is a blantant thin spot in my abdominal wall right where the pain is....Complete shenanigans.

My chest pain when I'm wearing a bra focuses around the band of the bra, so it's a possibility. I try to take mine off the second I can. The best part of my day is coming home, taking off my bra, and sprawling out on my bed, just letting the muscles settle.

I'm a C and my parents couldn't care less. My boyfriend practically lives with me and my room is one NOT sound proofed wall away from theirs. It's a pretty epic existance.

Costochondritis feels like you are having the symptoms of what they say a heart attack feels like. I have been getting it at times since I was pregnant with my dd more than 26 years ago and my mom first started having it when pregnant with me alot more than 26 years ago. ;) The drs also call it chest wall pain. From what they have told me (and i have went to the er with it a couple of times) that it is an inflammation in the chest wall. One nurse told me if i ever had the feeling that an elephant was sitting on my chest, it might be a heart attack. i told her about having the chest wall pain, and she said never take a chance, go to er if i ever had the chest wall pain to make sure.

If i lift anything heavy with my left arm i usually wind up with the pain by the next day. Sometimes i ask dh what would cause the pain and he will ask me what i picked up that day. If i am having the pain, it is difficult for me to breathe deeply due to the pain, or to lay on that side.

My chest pain was on the right. I showed rheumy the spot and she didn't think it odd place at all for that.

My bra bugs the ever living carp out of me (lol)
& one time my bra was killing me so I started to take it off ...
And guess what?
I wasn't even wearing it.
