Colonoscopy last week. New areas of colitis, with polyps. Areas biopsied- nurse left message to call back.

On medication for ulcerative colitis since 2004.

Recently, have been battling diarrhea, abdomen pain, nausea, some vomiting, headaches, higher resting rate, and higher blood pressure. Symptoms were noticed this summer, but really began being bothersome since October.

Knowing is best, of course. Most likely crohn's. 2012 was a bad Cancer year for my family, though, and I will be nervous until I get the results back.

Currently watching the Sidney Poitier movie day on TCM. Leftovers for dinner, and then a delightful hotbath. And clean sheet night. Heaven!

I learned to try not to worry about things I cannot control. It's a silly use of my time. If I can do something to control the outcome, well, then action rather than worry is the best policy.

Polyps-normal.

New diagnosis is Crohn's, so will be going back to see gastro next week. It is good timing, becuase I go to see new good rhuemie on Thursday.

I wonder if the hydrocodone I take at night is causing more inflammation. Clearly, something is causing the new areas of inflammation. Whether the culprit is food or medication, I don't know. I had huge issues on Sunday, eating carrots and celery during the games.

I'm glad everything was benign.  I'm sure that's a relief.  As far as Crohn's, just the disease can cause this.  It's an inflammatory illness.  You have to watch what you eat so you don't cause more inflammation.  There are newer medications out there these days but I was put on Azulfadine (a sulfa drug) and Librax.  Librax relaxes the intestines.  I told you before I was misdiagnosed for 11 years.....told I had ulcerative colitis. 

 

You will get this under control and, if you watch what you eat, you will do fine.

So glad to hear your biopsy came back benign...you must be relieved.

I'm sorry that you have Crohns...hoping you will find what you need to get it under control. Good luck, my friend...we are here for you :)

Sherrine- I have been taking the asa drugs for years now, for the colitis. My gastro upped them immediately after the colonoscopy. He might try something else when I see him next week. I think I have been having a infection bouncing around for some time now, and the source hasn't yet been identified.

I have been having problems with greens in recent months. And beans. Since these are my basic foods, I am stumped. At least momentarily.
