NEVER, I mean NEVER take flexeril. That stuff is poison in a pill. It gave me headaches, make my heart beat like it was going to go out of my chest, and now my mouth is getting sore and im dizzy, STAY AWAY!!

Chronica....I'm sorry that you had a bad experience...but everyone is different and hundreds of thousands of people, including me, have no issues with this medication.

So, it's really best to try and not scare everyone saying a medication is "poison"....Instead...it's fine to just share that you happened to have a reaction to it which is pretty rare for a muscle relaxer like this. Being dizzy and fatigued is normal and usually goes away after a month or so...Same thing with a headache as this medication, like others can cause dehydration/constipation...so it's VERY important to drink plenty of water/fluids when using any med like this.

But obviously the heart rate issue is a very unusual reaction to this. Thankfully there are many other muscle relaxers to choose from:)

You're probably just allergic to it like I was. It makes me sweat a lot.

I can take it with NO problems either. Sleep real well when I do use it. Everybody's body is different. Thousands of people use a chemo drug with no problems, it almost killed me. See?

I take it with no problem.
Here's an example off of spook's chemo comment, I just made it in remission in December after 4 years in chemo. The first one I took was immuran, it made me deathly sick, right down to internally bleeding, severe vomiting, shakes and chills, high fevers, severe loss of apetite. I never told the doctors at first.. I ended up in the ER 3 times a week getting iv's then sent home, I even lost my hair. It wasn't until I went on vacation, I ended up going to the ER again. That doctor finally made the connection, cuz I finally spoke up. He got ahold of my oncologist, saying he was going to do an immediate cold turkey with it, and thought of the thing to do for me. You have to tell your doctor when you have problems with meds, they aren't mind readers. Doctors are humans, many people forget that. They won't know what happens to us if we don't speak up. The second medication of chemo, I got severe flu symptoms with it. The third medication I had just an upset stomach off and on. It is like a trial and error to see which one is better for us.

I have been taking flexerill for a few months now and have had very little problems. Thank you Snowbunny for making it clear that medications effect everyone diffrently and scaring others is not such a good idea.

Some people are more sensitive to medications than others are and that could be a possibility for you, I hope you can find something that works better for you.

I have also done alot of homework on homeopathic remedies just in case I have issues with certain medications there is alot out there so just an Idea and good luck :-)

Yep, I just had a reaction to a sulfa drug for enteropathic arthritis and crohns. My reaction was bad, but others are helped by the drug. The only way to find out is to try it and see what happens.

This may sound weird but compezine, a common medication used to treat nausea and vomiting, causes me to become very antsy. It actually hurts to not be still! I can take zofran and phenergren. You just never know.

I prefer soma over flexeril. Flexeril makes me very sleepy and gives me a hangover. It is clear that different meds effect different people in different ways, we all have a different chemical make up. So no flexeril isn't poison, it just works differently on different people. Try something else and see if it helps you. As someobdy posted above there are many different kinds.

I'm one of the millions that hates Flexeril because of the side effects, but thats just my opinion.

I have had no side effects from Flexoril. When I've needed it, it has been a life-saver!

The journal is a great idea! I keep one because I get migraines that interfere with my ability to speak. For now I have a list of my current meds, dosages, and drug allergies/known reactions on my phone and on my ereader. I had to go to the er after a migraine lasted a week to get a shot and the nurse thought it was wonderful.
I've noticed the doctors treating you like a drug seeker if you request a certain medication. They always want to give me zofran for migraine associated vomiting but zofran does absolutely nothing for me so I ask for phenergren instead. I'm amazed at how many times they will insist on the zofran.
