It has been a pretty long time since I have posted and even looked through the forum;  I have been dealing iwth Fibro better than I had hoped.  However, I am having issues now and I honestly can't remember if this is Fibro related or not. 

I have the normal pain and fatigue right now.  But, I have also been having night sweats lately.  I don't think that I am feeling overheated in my sleep (I typically wake up if I am too hot), but when I wake up I am covered in sweat and when I get out of bed the air hits my skin and I become instantly freezing.

Normal - not normal?

What is your age? The night sweats may be hormonal. I hope you get it figured out. I have them often. I am through menopause though. I guess it is just a symptom of that. I hope...

I get night sweets on and off.... I think it is a fibro thing.

Welcome back!  Yes, night sweats can be a symptom of fibro.  I get them occasionally and I'm over the hump hormone-wise.  You might want to go back to Fibro 101 and refresh your memory.  There are so many weird symptoms with this illness.

It's always a good idea to get night sweats checked out, as they can sometimes be linked to something serious. Not trying to frighten anyone, but I have a relative who found this out, so I thought I should mention it.

Of course, that goes without saying--any symptom which bothers us might be worth having a doc check out.

In most cases, though, I would guess night sweats are NOT serious, and may be fairly common.

Sherrine is right: there are so many weird symptoms with this illness!!

Hi,

I've been having occasional night sweats for years and I'm definitely past post menopausal. What I do to deal with it is wear silk long johns from Winter Silks. You can order them online. They're very comfortable and they seem to prevent a good part of the sweat from getting on my top sheet. I know that feeling, having to get up in the middle of the night and feel like I'm freezing if I'm a little sweaty.

Sometimes I think it's a food that I eat during the day that might be causing it.

I don't know the symptoms for diabetics, but I have never had an issue with it. Lets pray I don't have another something! I am thinking of going to the doctor next week. Guess it is best to just get it checked out. I sometimes feel like going to the doctor is a waste of time. There isn't much they can do for fibro...and I always feel like I am complaining!

I get night sweats, and it better not be hormones! I've noticed my night sweats come on if I miss even one day of my cymbalta. I know I'm not too hot because since my fibro has hit I have tended to be too warm so I keep my thermostat lower now. I like being cold enough to need to snuggle into my blankets.

I can't remember if I have ever mentioned this to my doctor. He's not exactly very helpful anyway. I see my new primary care physician option on the eleventh so maybe I will ask him about it, if he proves helpful.

My body thermometer is all messed up. Last winter I had to layer my bed clothes and wear my heaviest PJs. This winter I'll start out with a sheet, lightweight blanket, and thin PJs. In less than an hour or midway through the night I'm kicking off the blanket and sticking my feet out of the sheet.

When last year I had to wear long sleeve sweaters with a very heavy coat and still freeze. This year I go outside in just my long sleeves and feel fine. I've even had people ask me where my coat was. Today I stepped out and could blow fog with my breath. I was wearing a long sleeve tee and jeans and wasn't the least bit cold.

Sorry for the confusion. That is a good website too. It mentions nightsweats and our irregularity of temperature in the first paragraph. I defintely have both.

I don't get nightsweats, but my temperature is all over the map--usually very low, though.

I get night sweats from my antidepressant-Celexa. When I went off it a few years ago the night sweats stopped and now that I am back on it they are back. I also find that I am warm when others are cold which isn't such a bad thing living in New Hampshire during the winter.
