Hi Izzy: I had that in 2004. For whatever reason, my symptoms suddenly got worse and I could barely walk because of muscle spasms and cramping. My feet and toes would cramp and not work as they should. I went on Flexeril and Neurontin, and they helped, but I'm one who really dislikes taking any meds, so I hoped to try something more natural.
Over the years, I've tried various muscle rubs and similar items, heating pads, cold packs, etc.. Then I found this forum and started on the malic acid/magnesium from Puritan's Pride (the product is now called Magnesium Malate and is similar to the previous product). I would have to say that taking that was really helpful, along with vitamin E, calcium, and B vitamins (be sure to check with your doctor on these).
I was so stiff in 2004 that I really thought I'd end up in a wheelchair, but I kept slowly moving and got to where I am now--not great by any means, but much better. I'm still working hard to improve in many ways, such as diet and exercise.
I still wonder why my muscles got so weird for that period of time, and thankfully, it hasn't been as bad since--ups and downs, to be sure, but better.
Hope things improve for you soon. And yes, I would think that's a symptom of fibro, but maybe it would be best to see a neurologist. I had other conditions ruled out once I had some MRIs and muscle testing done.
