The doctor who diagnose me with Fibro is a Physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor. I think he is a good doc and is helping me. The way he is treating me matches the way other talk about their treatment.

I notice people talk about neurologists and rheumatologist treating their fibro. Are pm&r doctor considered by S.S. disability to be a appropriate doctor treat fibro. Does anyone have this type of doc. treating fibro and have you experience with S.S. Any information would be appreciated

I think the best kind of doctor to treat fibro is one that listens and then treats you accordingly. Whether they are internists, primary care, naturopaths, rhumies, nurse practitioners or whomever.

I'm in the pre-approval phase of SS. I've filled out all of the paper work and I now have to go see two different doctors to get my exams to prove my disabilities.

My Rhuemy treats my fibro along with my lupus.

Camas, I couldn't agree with you more about what makes the best doc. for a patient. This doctor is good he takes his time with you, listen, and seem to care. It took me quite some time to find him.. as most of us know what that's like. From the legal stand point if his diagnose is not taken serious ...that's what I'm worried about.

Couchtater, What kind of doctors are you having to see?

PCP
Pulmonary/allergy/sleep therapy doctor
Eye medical specialist (forgot what they call him) LOL!
Kidney specialist
psychologist

I see the same as you couchtater except I add a oncology Dr. still at least 2 times a year.
