Things crawling on your skin

This is a weird one, it happened tonight and I'm wondering.
It also doesn't happen a lot. Maybe once every six months, and only for a few seconds or minutes.
It might be stress related (Two times this week the doorbell rang and when I came to open, there was no one and it's been stressing me to know who it was)(Also because someone attacked me once and every time I hear the doorbell and I'm not waiting on anyone, I stress)

Anyways!

Tonight I was sitting on the couch studying and it felt like bugs were crawling under my jeans. Both legs, and it was only specific areas on my skin. Like maybe a 2 inches X 2 inches area, and another smaller one on my feet.
It wasn't the usual hyper sensitivity thing I get sometimes, it was something else.

It came and went. I changed position. It reduced, but I can still feel it a bit.

What do you guys think?

I've had these sensations for years, mostly in the middle of my back and on my arms. I think it has to do with nerve damage. I'm so use to it, mine feels like healing sunburn. It isn't pleasant.

When my neuromuscular massage therapist works on certain parts of my neck, my arms tingle. When she works on certain parts of my arms, my feet can tingle. Very strange.

I apply Lubiderm lotion twice a day, I use Seventh Generation laundry soap, and I use Walmart's bath soap for sensitive skin. This seems to help me some.

Anna, first of all, I never answer my door if I'm not expecting someone.  If someone comes to visit, they have to call my number so I know they are coming or that they are outside my door.  I live by myself and just don't think it's safe to open the door to anyone.

 

I have felt like bugs were crawling on me too and I've even swatted myself before I realized there was nothing there.     I also get the feeling like water is running down my legs.  Also, I'll get what feels like wet spots on my skin.  Fibro is a weird illness...for sure!

Yup, I get the crawly feeling, too, occasionally. It is strange!!

about the doorbell: I have heard that they can sometimes malfunction, causing the bell to ring irregularly. Maybe someone could check the wiring or whatever.

I'm so glad to know I'm not the other one living with bugs under my skins and that it's indeed a FM thing.

ROFL! I thought ghost bugs were only for me! I also get the wet feeling spots and go mad trying to fall asleep when the "bugs" and my RLS play a concert under the bed covers!

I'm not squeamish about bugs but can't stand it when it's so bad I have to nearly undress to be sure it's nothing. Now, whenever I see a bug in the house, I pounce on that bugger asap! I feel a bit foolish because I have no trouble camping in a tent or even under the stars but now can't abide bugs in the house.

Hey, now I can really mean it when I say "I'm going buggy!"

i get this too...Im constantly knocking away hairs that arent tickling my face - I also get RLS and that is very annoying.
Another one for me is buzzing, which seems to accompany these weird sensations...Thats interesting about nerve damage - I do have a problem with my coccyx so wonder if this could cause these feelings?
Im about to try Gabapentin which is meant to help with these strange sensations :o)

Sofia, I get the feeling water is running down my leg and go check to make sure I didn't have an accident. now I know what it is so I don't worry anymore. Mi also will get spots that feel like my skin ie wet or cold. Fun, huh?

Hi Sherrine and everybody here!

The problem is that sometimes my feeling is so real that i first act, then think.

I believe the night I threatened to take a knife to my legs to relieve the bugs in my knees that wouldn't allow me to sleep, someone finally listened! I've been at this so long that I think I have been treated and diagnosed with everything, so when docs finally recognized RLS and Fibro, the relief that I was not insane was almost as good as the relief I finally got for those knees.

I get those Marit. I would be find and the feel a stab in my rib like a pin. The backs of my arms do that too.
