Hello to everyone

Hi, I’m new here but not new to fm. I was diagnosed in 1991, two years after being hit by a car as a pedestrian in a parking lot where I worked. My disability through cpp was rejected but I won the appeal but within a few short years I lost it again in a tribunal. I have tried to work at different jobs over the years but every time I end up flairing up some area or areas of my body that is being over used. The last few years my over all condition is worsening and I now feel it's time again to get my disability affairs in order. My first goal is to find a really good Rheumatologist in Toronto or the GTA. I had Dr W. J. Reynolds but he has passed away now and I have been unable to find anyone such as he was. What a beautiful person and a wonderful doctor he was, he sure tried to get me better over the years. So if anyone knows a good Rheumatologist please send me their contact info please. Now the other thing I’m wondering is if fibromyalgia is recognized as a disability in Canada and if so is there any help for people that need help with filling out the disability forms.   It's funny years ago we had a small support group in our local city and it was me helping everyone else out with all different problems but now it is me needing help and I'm not finding alot of programs that were there years ago.   Thanks so much,   still_alive

I don't really have any concrete advice for you, but just want to say good luck. As Mrsbugzy said, our Fibro 101 thread is a great resource. It contains lots of different links pertaining to Fibro - coping skills, symptoms list, what doctors are researching....

It's hard when you feel alone. We are here for you! There used to be a Fibro support group in my town, too. An acquaintance in my church decided to start one up again last Fall. Once a month....she and I were the only people who showed up...for 5 months. So much for that.

This is my support group, and it's a wonderful one. I hope you'll keep posting, and good luck finding a doctor.

Thanks for your replies, I will look at the Fibro 101 on the weekend and thanks Sherrine for those sites I will also check them out. Mrsbugzy I have tried to keep to the basics as much as possible but could always do better with a healthier diet and some low impact exercise, I do allot of walking, climbing, bending, ect, with my job so I consider that as exercise and by the time I come home my body’s screaming in pain so then I rest if I can. I use to take allot of supplements, garlic, cod/halibut oil, multivitamins but really do not take much anymore, maybe I can look at that again. I also was on novo quinine 2 x 500mg nightly for years but a doctor told me that drug is now banned in the states as it’s related to heart disease and to stop taking it, so I stopped.   Thanks again,
