I'm on birth control now and it seems to help (apri) but am considering asking my doc to get the shot that keeps you from having your period all together (forget what its called), would that help?
Different people react very differently to each type of hormonal birth control. I tried the injection before - Depo-Provera - and the first time I had it, back before I had fibro, it decreased my periods in frequency, length and severity. But then my doctor at the time became concerned that the shot could decrease bone density (which IS a known side effect) and took me off it. Then a few years later I began the shots again and that time it made me bleed every day for 4 months. Needless to say I was too scared to get another after that. So YMMV.
