Swollen glands & FM?

 I just read one of the earlier posts and it made me question some of my own symptoms I've experienced. 

 

I went to my family doctor last year complaining about a swollen area in the right side of my neck...nothing showing from the outside, but when I swallowed that felt like a small ball moving which was painful. She examined me and said that I had a swollen gland and that it should go away.  Of course, the cause was unknown.

 

Now, again recently I had the same symptoms and it lasted over a week.   I'll admit it is scary when you experience something like that.  I'm one who likes to know 'why' or 'what', because I find that makes it easier to accept and deal with it.

 

Is this 'swelling' part of FM symptoms?  Have others experienced this too?  I was surprised when I read that earlier post about swollen lymph glands. Hmmmm.

My lymph nodes have been swollen for years. I was told this is very common in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Could be that people with fibro often also have some kind of autoimmune issues going on at the same time, but so far they haven't found any evidence of that in me. Another theory is that the lymphatic system is "stagnant" or "backed up".

"Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia are alike in many ways. In fact, it is not uncommon for a person to have both fibromyalgia and CFS. Some experts believe that fibromyalgia and CFS are in fact the same disorder, just expressed in slightly different ways. Both CFS and fibromyalgia have pain and fatigue as symptoms. Tender swollen lymph nodes in the neck or under the arm are a common symptom of CFS."

Thanks for your information....it is good to know why things happen. I think my swollen glands did happen during a flare up.
