I looked at drugs.com and here's some side effects for Cymbalta. My doctor tried it on me for a time to see if it would help my pain. It didn't. It made me feel worse pain-wise and I had lots of side effects. All I can say is don't completely trust your doctor. I recall times when I tried meds when my doctor would tell me to take something longer even if I was experiencing lots of side effects or they would tell me to up the dose.

For the Consumer

Applies to duloxetine: capsule delayed rel pellets oral, oral delayed release capsule

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking duloxetine (the active ingredient contained in Cymbalta) skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor, such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

feeling like you might pass out;

agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, overactive reflexes, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of coordination;

very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, tremors;

easy bruising, unusual bleeding;

painful or difficult urination;

headache, trouble concentrating, memory problems, weakness, feeling unsteady, seizure, shallow breathing or breathing that stops; or

severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Other common side effects may include:

dry mouth;drowsiness;tired feeling;mild nausea or loss of appetite; orconstipation.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

Let the body get used to it. If it continues past three weeks, then worry. Of course, follow what your doctor says!

Hi guys... well, so far no more headaches!! :) Yeah..so very happy for that!
BUT, Friday night I went to a wedding, and ate some AMAZING coleslaw type salad...after I got home and laid down, I got the MOST AWFUL heart burn (or so I thought). I took some prilosec, didn't work, then went on to try milk of magnesia, pepto bismol, tums, milk, more tums..another prilosec.. NO relief :( It didn't even get better when I sat up!
So, saturday didn't feel that great still.. So I took it easy. Then I started getting wicked hot flashes, all color would drain from my face and I would get those cold, clammy sweats, pain would get VERY INTENSE, then I'd vomit. So, again, I figured heart burn (mainly because pain isn't in abdomen, but more WAY up, about where my gall bladder would be if I still had it! Almost between breasts) So again I went thru a bunch of meds, plus my phenergan and zofran for vomiting...
Well, today the sweats got worse, so did vomiting, and my temp dropped to 96.2 (for some reason my temp drops when I get infections and stuff... very odd, and my sons does too!) and pain got sooo intense I couldn't take it anymore, so I went to e.r.
They did yet ANOTHER c.t. scan, and told me they saw nothing, all blood work came back normal, so she thought it was just more of my "chronic abdomenal pain", gave me 2 shots of nubane, and 2 shots of phenergan for the vomiting, then sent me home.
I am so mad that, 1~ She didn't investigate further...whether I have my gall bladder or not, I should not be screaming when you push on where it used to be!!! and 2~ that she sent me home with ibuprofen for pain, knowing that 2 shots of phenergan did nothing, AND sent me home with a pain level at a 9/10...and that every time the pain increased, I'd break out in sweats and vomit...
Sorry, but I am not buying the chronic pain thing, especially since taking the cymbalta, I don't have my typical abdomenal/ovarian pain I did have...
just soo frustrated!
And on top of it, I can't sleep because of pain...

maybe that is it... but this is the most horrific pain i have ever had..hard to believe with all I have had done :(
But this is so odd, hurts like holy o he*& when that area is touched..
Just not happy that the doc at e.r. was like, "Well, you have a lot of abdominal pain, so that must be it"
She didn't even really try to find what the heck was going on!! Seriously, if I had my gall bladder, I would swear it exploded.. that is how bad the pain is. If I can't get into the doc today, I am going to have to go back to the e.r.

Well, I go monday to see if it is a bleeding ulcer :( NOT what I need!!
(Quick recap, I had to have a toxic mega-colon removed last year..so, I had to have large intestine removed, part of small one removed, and a hysterectomy...so, not much left between belly and pelvis)
Since Friday I have only eaten 3 slices of bread, and 1/4 cup soup. Everything made me sick..
