Not able to wear a bra due to fibromyalgia pain. I live in co-ed, I don't want

I stay in the living room, don't want to be inappropriate. I am fully visible when someone is using the kitchen. I have tried

nipple cover, nipple pad: not effective enough coupled with summer tops (which tend to be thin)
nubra: very uncomfortable, too much area of contact with skin
cover with scarf, blanket etc: too hot for summer
bra cup tops: anything sleeveless hurts

What else can I do?

Have you tried camisoles with the built in bra support? Their straps tend to be thin and I find they are more comfortable.

I had that problem. I wore a heavy camosol with a thick shirt.

Get you a spa wrap from walmart and wrap your ribs with it. It will help the pain.

Have similar situation.

Agree w/ AV re:camies w/built in bra

Also bought some plain cotton tanks not tight but tighter than I would normally choose .. I wear those UNDER my bra.

Had to change from the supportive ie tight around rib cage -bras to the nylon pull on kind.. mainly because of injuries to both shoulders made it difficult to get them on & off. But I found my rib cage area was so much more comfortable.

I'm very heavy chested so it's uncomfortable for me to go braless, not to mention the modesty issues. I've always worn underwire minimizers but they are getting very uncomfortable and the wires are getting painful. I just ordered the Genie bra to give that a try. The Genie bra is all one piece and no wires, looks like a soft fabric with fairly wide, soft straps. It looks sort of like a sports bra but not quite so industrial strength for lack of a better term.

Has anyone else tried them? I'll let you know how it works. Cross your fingers!

I have a pair of sports bras I got from walmart... they have hooks and eyes in the front and are cotton They aren't very good sports bras, because they don't do a heck a lot of supporting, but they are comfortable for day-to-day wearing.

I wear Bestform sports bras that hook in the front. It's hard to get regular sports bras over my head, shoulders etc. I get them at K-Mart. They are pretty cheap, good thing because they wear out fairly quickly--6 months or so.

I think I am definitely going to order some of those genie bras. They sound perfect for me. I hate underwires and to find something that offers enough support without them is fabulous. I'm not large up top but I still don't like to go flapping in the breeze.

I think Bed Bath and Beyond carries the Genie bra - they do not have the support I would like but are certainly better than not wearing a bra at all.

I'm a "G" cup and I buy a wireless bra from Lane Bryant that offers enough support that I can wear them for work. You might try those and see if you can stand them.

When around the house I go without a bra, can't handle anything around my ribs. When I do go out the ones that seem to work the best are the underwire and I remove the wire. These I have found are more comfortable then getting the no wire ones. Not sure why. The other thing I do is go a size bigger I am 36 so I go to 38. However I am only a B cup so it doesn't affect support issues. I think for those that are bigger cup this may not work because you loose some of the support, however you are covered.

So the genie bras arrived and I've been using them for about a month. Not as supportive as I'd prefer for going out and about, but for around the house they are perfect. Provide just enough support that I'm comfortable and not so tight that it's painful. Actually feel almost like I'm not wearing anything at all. :)

But I still go for my old underwire minimizers when I leave the house, which these days is only once of twice a week. :(

Fair warning though, the lighter shades are pretty thin material and can be slightly see thru. Darker shades or the ones with the removable pads offer more coverage for modesty.
