I have been a medical psychologist for over 40 years and a medical writer
and researcher. I had also recovered from severe fibro I had for 12 years and
had over 20 years of great health and unlimited exercise...then it came back
worse in 2007 and has remained.
There is an extremely high correlation of fibro and people who
have had life stresses and especially people who in childhood who had difficult
times, were over protected, too many changes, death or illness of immediate
family, personal illness, outright abuse, neglect or being ignored, arbitrary
rules and enforcement and failure of parental guidance.
I have had hundreds and hundreds of patients that claimed
their childhood was good or at least OK. On close inspection it became
apparent that a condition called Allostatic Load had occurred from conditions
they either repressed, failed to recognize or did not properly understand– this
permanently changes the central nervous system and it is where I believe fibro
comes from.
There is nothing wrong with our muscles or any soft tissues
other than it has been chronically activated by parts of the brain that became
sensitized to threat and arousal and lost the feedback loops to shut off. This
need not be a major event, the drip or daily activations are sufficient...as
children we had so little cortex development we were not even aware of a problem
and even less able to program the experiences into memory. We simply may not
have the capacity to recall critical events and emotions.
