Normal fibro stuff or should be looking into other things???

My doctor has told me she thinks its fibromyalgia and is sending me to a rheumatologist. I still wonder if it could be something else.

My pain is crazy. My everything hurts all the time, but the levels of pain change. The heels of my feet are always the worst, but other parts seem to rotate their level. My "secondary symptoms" do the same thing.

Its like while I'm asleep (I use that term loosely) there are little fibro bots spinning little wheels. Like a game. "OK guys, lets play the symptom game!!" 2 bots are picked, they spin the wheels. "Today we will have double pain in the... thighs and... hands!!. We will also double the.... memory loss... and vertigo!! You all know your jobs. Have a great day guys." Guess that's where the sleep problem comes from. lol

Is this a normal part of it?? If so, no wonder why people with it get depressed. You never know when you wake up what problems you will have. UGGGGGGG

Bella, this is very familiar. You never know where the pain will end up. People call this moving, or widespread.

For instance, I usually have pain in the shoulder blades and buttocks. For some reason, yesterday the neck and the thighs were chosen. As well as weird rib pain that I haven't had for years.

The sleep issue is well documented. People with fibro never get to a deep sleep, since their brain stays awake, or at least firing. The muscles also complain about being held still for so long.

So, yeah, sounds pretty normal. And, yes, depression can be a large problem for many. I am slogging through it right now.

But, with time, the symptoms can be managed.

Your description of what is going on is very colorful but exact. Unfortunately you are one of the fibro patients from all over the world.

Truth be told, for a long time I did not think fibromyalgia was a "real thing". I only know 2 people that have ever been diagnosed with it. The first is my ex mother in law, who pushed her dr to diagnose it because she wanted a reason not to work. The other is a pill head who got kicked out of her pain management clinic because they found illegal drugs in her system. The more I read and learn about it, the more I KNOW it is real. I guess there is still that little voice saying its not.

Leave it to karma to hit me with something I didnt believe in. lol

I will say my pain is mostly in neck, shoulders and shoulder blades, but like today my lower back and buttocks are killing me...who ever knows what will hit and where

Yes, it sounds like fibromyalgia. It is no fun. Welcome to our world...

Oh, Bella. I know.

My older sister (who died last year from leukemia) was diagnosed in the early nineties. I never quite understood or believed her. In 2004, when I started having the symptoms, I got it and felt awful.

Perhaps exMIL was disliked for other reasons? As for illegal drugs, well... that's bad, no matter what.

But this is very real.

Bella, have you read Fibro 101 yet?  If not, I suggest you do so you can learn all about this illness.  Fibro 101 is the first thread on the forum.  Good starting links would be Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You just might see yourself there.

 

No, this is a true illness.  It is recognized by the American Medical Association, the American College of Rheumatology, the National Institutes of Health, and the World Health Organization...just to name a few.  It's a painful, tiring illness and those with this illness are very often misjudged since we look just fine.
