GP throwing pain meds at me

I saw my GP on Thursday and he again increased my pain meds to 200 mgs of Tramadol 2x a day. I was also in pain from the fibro as we had achange in the weather.
As this is agin a new GP he asked me why I had not been taking pain medication etcfor the fibro I admit I just looked at him in shock as my last 2 GPs would not give me anything, yes I am allergic to a lot of meds, but here I am now with more pain killers then I know what to do with.
I am also to take pain killers during the dayfor break through pain.
I just love this doctor he asks questions and HE listens to my answers. Ihopehe stays around for a few years I am so over changi g GPs.

I've also had the docs who don't ask questions and don't listen to the answers, and it's lousy!

I dread the day my doctor retires (and it will probably be in the next few years.) He talks to me as one human being to another. He trusts my judgement about what works for me and what I need. And I know he actually cares about my welfare.

How is the Tramadol working for you? It worked well for me before my ruptured disc. Afterwards, it didn't touch the pain. I hope to switch back to it from Hydrocodone....one of these days.

Consider yourself very Lucky to have great Dr's, especially for pain control.

The pain has gone with the tramadol I do not have any side effects accept the lack of appetite. I have been making sure I eat one good meal each day.

That's great Kathy! So many doctors today don't listen and are so paranoid about prescribing pain meds.

If the pain meds work, I say take them in a sensible manner. I have been through dozens of NSAIDS and narcotics and none of them work for the fibro pain. I only take naproxen for my arthritis and there are times I think I would kill for a med that worked on my fibro pain.

So happy Kathy that you found someone that is helping and cares. So many places you are in and out in 15 mins. My doctor's clinic even has it posted in the rooms. If you need to talk to a doctor about anything other than what this appointment is for, please schedule another appointment. My doctor does take longer then that. But I guess they need some guidelines for people that may abuse the doctors time.

Yay! Even if they don't work all the time, it's really nice to get a break from the pain after a really hard day. Congrats on finding a compassionate provider! :)

There's not much better than when a doctor actually listens and helps you out.
