I went and did it....

The working thing is basically a lie. They won't approve you if you can work, that's how they denied me for 2 years until I got a lawyer and a good case for my employment while applying. They told me the same thing about working, and then denied my claim because I was able to work. You can work after you get approved, that way they don't have to pay out as much.

I strongly recommend hiring a lawyer from the start who can help you fill out the right things and present a legitimate case the way they need to see it.

In my state a lawyer doesn't want to talk to you until you have been denied once. Yes, I wouldn't work if I were you. That will be held against you for sure.

My fist time trying I had no clue how do it and I never asked. I return back to work for two more years because I really didn't know I could appeal it at the time. Like I said I had no clue! Then I became very sick again and totally unable to work. I reapplied, but I did it all different. This time I went down to the social security office and talked with them. I didn't go through the phone system. I just seem more personel to be able to tell my story. I found out who my case worker was and stayed on top of it. I called to see where they were. Most of the time they were behind waiting for Dr's to send records to them. So I help them by calling my Dr's office and pushing them to send them. I even picked up some paper work my Dr. Had filled out and took it to the social security office. It was kind of cool because I got o read it too.

I didn't need a lawyer on the second time and I got approved. I had at least ten diagnoses with chronic depression. I really think it was my psychologist that got my disability. My medical issues were not small in nature either.

I know how you feel about the financial part. I cried and my my husband didn't help either. He was stressing out because we were use to living off two incomes. I was very blessed because I had long term insurance from work. I was approved from them so I had that money come in while waiting for the disability to be approved. We had to cut corners in the household, but I never lost a thing. I look back at it and I see God was saying trust me and have faith. It sure strengthen my faith for sure. I still get long term with disabiity after 4 years. I almost make the same on this as if I was working. I was calling in so much and making huge medical bills so my money was going out the door.

I just wanted to share this because it was so worth going on disability. I am saving so much more money because I am not in the hospital like I use to be all the time. My health is so much better and I enjoy life more even if I have to cut corners on financial things. I still have pain and fatigue but I can rest when I need to. So I hope you can hang in there financially because it's worth it.

I think I will continue to work at least through December. Then I will get school money and income tax which should help until Ltd would hopefully be approved. I have to be out of work for 135 days before getting it. So I will start on that next week..

Thank you stinky, for letting me know about the working thing!! I will also look into getting a lawyer. I wanna do this right the first time... (fingers crossed).

I wish it was an easier process, for all of us...

Question for all of you on disability. I have been on disability for years. Lucky for me the company I worked for supplied me with a lawyer when I got denied because they didn't have a job I could do. Now my problem. I have been also receiving disability for my daughter who will be graduating in May and then I lose that income which I rely on for the running of the household. (I will lost child support for her) I am a single mom on disability. I have heard I can work while on disability and this may be a necessity for me to keep the house and pay the bills.

Does anyone know if I can work and maintain my disability and how much I can make. I presently live in AZ, don't know if it matters by state. I can't stay in any position for a period of time, cognitive issues, being out of the work force for years so I don't know alot of computer programs and such. I am really scared of losing my home and having no where to afford to live.
