Tramadol works great for me. I don't take it daily though, maybe because I have a small body (110lbs only!), but maybe because I'm young and I got diagnosed just a few years after developing the symptoms, so I managed to start controlling the pain early with Lyrica (75mg every night). As some have mentioned, it can cause serotonin syndrome, which can be unpleasant at best and deadly at worst. I got prescription for paroxetine too (for anxiety and compulsions), and I switch between 20, 30 and 40mg depending on how I feel, though I usually stay at 20. Even when I go to 40mg taking 100mg of tramadol doesn't give me any unpleasant side effects (quite the opposite, they're rather pleasant), but it makes me very sleepy.
If you're taking any antidepressant be careful, because tramadol has a weak SNRI effect (meaning it makes serotonin and norephinephrine more widely available in your brain, which can cause the aforementioned serotonin syndrome). But if your doctor gave you prescription then you should be safe, they must know what they're doing!
Regards, Raisse. Hope tramadol works with you as it does with me.
