shawllow breathing with fibro fatigue.

When i get my bouts of major fatigue it seems its hard to breath.

I dont mean like an asthma attack. I know theres nothing wrong with my lungs.

I mean it seem hard to take a deep breath or even difficult to yawn.

I'm thinking its possible that my muscles get so fatigued from the fms that it makes it difficult muster up a deep breath. i just take slow shallow breaths. It does go away after ahwhile.

ever since taking meds i experice the fatigue much less.

just thought i would share this.

I too get the shallow breathing.. usually when I am in a great deal of pain.
Think I have mentioned before that I have a dear friend who.first brought the breathing issues tomy attention several years ago.. she still can hear the difference in the first minutes of our phone conversations.

Am interested / concerned as medications can affect our breathing

I have kept logs re:taking meds & the breathing but have not found link.

Hope some others have input..

My friend told me I was holding my breathe.. once I knew I paid attention & she was right..

I tend to be a very shallow breather, too, not just when I'm especially fatigued, though - - to the point where that's the thing I have to concentrate on most when I sing or talk. When I'm subbing in a large classroom, it becomes a real issue. I come home drained and with a sore throat.

This goes back almost as far as I can remember. My mother periodically reminded me to breathe through my diaphram, but it never really "took." A flute teacher dropped me because she claimed I didn't try hard enough to breathe (what a grouchy young woman she was) and my 9th grade Drama teacher promised me an A "if you can learn to project your voice to the back of the classroom!" I never did.

That yawning thing you mentioned happens to me sometimes, too, and it gets so uncomfortable! It's hard to get your mind off of it when it's going on...

I think pain causes us to breathe a little more shallow. I know I do. I also do deep breathing exercises to help keep my lungs expanded. When you do deep breathing, you don't raise your shoulders. Your abdomen should be moving. Just thing of a baby when they are sleeping. Their abdomen is going up and down. This does help me but yet, expecially if I'm sneezing, I find I can't get that really deep breath that I used to.
