Facial redness and feeling sunburned?

I'm wondering if anyone on this Fibromyalgia site lives with facial redness and a burning sensation (like a sunburned feeling)?

My face started developing a red rash-like look on my cheeks and chin about 5 years ago. Not acne, and not rosacea, and no scabs or bumps. Just redness. I never thought anything of it and put it down to the ageing process, but about a week ago my face developed a burning sensation and a tightness, like a sunburn.

When I saw my doc today, I purposely did not wear makeup so that he could look at that redness. He responded by sending me for blood tests for Lupus. I read the Lupus information under that post and did the Lupus test, and answered Yes to only 4 of the 11 questions, one of the Yes's being debatable.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has this kind of facial redness and burning sensation, and whether it is part of Fibromyalgia as well as Lupus, or ... ??

Same symptoms...had it for a long time and it did turn out to be rosacea, confirmed by a biopsy (I wanted definite answers). I also have ocular rosacea and have to use eye drops for it.

What I have on both cheeks is melasma. It burns, but are brownish in color. My cheeks gets slightly red.

Hi all - I've finally been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after a series of tests to eliminate the possibility of anything else. I also have controlled hypo-thyroid disease and a prolactin secreting tumor (which I'm told has not grown much).

I too have been experiencing redness (mostly on my face) along with tightness. It does mimic a sunburn very much - so much so that my face actually feels hot. This happens periodically so I don't really know when to expect it. When it does happen, I tend to feel pressure in my head as a precursor.

The culprit? I think it's the Fibromyalgia but I will see what, if anything, mt Endocrinologist says...

I have rosacea that functions like this. Also have fibro. Been tested multiple times for lupus.

Red cheeks that feel likesunburn/windburn, broken blood vessels near nose, some red bumps.

I do have lupus. My face gets like that when exposed to sunlight, fluorescents, or halogens.
I use sunscreen and sunprotective clothing.

That is so weird that you ask that. I have had diagnosed fibro 7 years and have the same redness and burning in my cheeks. I have asked my doctor about it, but he doesn't seem to know what it is. I do not have Lupus or Rosacea or anything else that may cause the redness.

Hi, ifeel, and welcome! I think some with fibro have this problem. If you scan down on the first page of the forum, you will see another thread about the same problem called "Sunburned in the Winter".

When you get a chance, it would be good to do an introductory post so all the members will see that you have joined us. We do have a great forum here. We have wonderful members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about each other too. I think you will like it here.

I have the same thing, only the redness is always there. I too was tested for Lupus and it was negative. I purposely did not wear make up when I went to see the doc at the Mayo Clinic and all he said was it could be sun damage. I mean, I know I live in the desert, but I tend to stay out of the sun as much as I can. Have not had this my whole life, but only in the last decade or less...
