I was originally at 4.2 for my D levels. PMD put me on 100k iu's for two weeks, then 50k iu's for six months of the D2, plus 4k iu's/day of the OTC D3. Then I was on just the OTC for about six months, re-tested and was low again.
I had the same experience the following year, but was only at about 15 or so that time. Did another 7 months on the megadoses, then 5 at just the OTC D3.
The only side effect that I noticed was that my energy levels were better when on mega doses.
I'm supposed to go in to get tested again, but I started on my own taking 20k iu's daily of Raw D3 from Garden of Life - which is not a synthetic vitamin. Research has shown that our bodies can absorb vitamins better if they have the whole vitamin complex. This one is a whole food vitamin and has the full complex, which includes "probiotics, antioxidants, enzymes and nutrient-specific peptides for targeted delivery and natural recognition of nutrients by your body."
I've been taking this for about a week and can tell a slight difference in energy levels.
