I've known this wonderful man was going to die for awhile now, and he was ready. He was a true uncle figure to me, so much moreso than either of my "real" uncles. He and his wife were my parents' best friends; their (and my) relationship with them spanned more than 50 years. His wife has been gone 2 years.
He passed away yesterday, and I went right over to be with his daughter, who I've also gotten close to in the past few months. I'm glad I could be there for her, since she lives far away and has no one else here who loved her dad the way I do.
Anyway, I've lost a giant figure in my life. Very sad.

Added to that is the news that we do have asbestos in our soaked kitchen floor - don't know yet exactly what that removal will entail, but I just feel like I can't catch a break right now! Trying to deal with all the various companies - insurance, mitigation, etc - and not get ripped off - is not my forte and stresses me out to the max!!
Thanks for listening...
