Insomnia - Anyone given Trazadone?

Curious about the side effects y'all had, because I recently had a bad run in with Trazadone and my doc believes I have the flu or something. I don't. I can tell because everything is immediately subsiding after the night I took the meds.

Did anyone have anything bad happen?

I took Trazodone for a couple of weeks in the beginning...it seemed to help and then just quit, but I don't remember any bothersome effects.

When I took it, I always had a stuffy nose, that is the only side effect that I noticed, but it bothered me enough to stop taking it.

I took it once. Knocked me right out but four hours later I woke up feeling like you mentioned, very sickly and flu like. I never took it again.

Elavil has been working a lot better for me for sleep and no side effects so far.

I take trazadone 25 mg every night and it helps me to stay asleep. I tried to up the dose but it caused night sweats and didn't seem to work any better than the 25 mg. I take a Xanax right before bed to help me fall asleep. The combination seems to work for me and I am not groggy when I wake up.

On occasion I also take a combo of trazadone and .25 xanax....seems to work well for me with no hangover effects.
Trazadone is a great drug, however the side effect of constipation has been horrible for me.
Most nights I try to manage with a xanax and a good book!

Trazodone is known as an old antidepressent. They use it now for sleep. Many Dr's order it because it's not addictive as other sleep aides such as ambien. Many Dr's order it if you have an history of addiction. I took it for a long time and it work for me. I don't use sleep aides anymore. I have never heard of people getting flu like symptoms.

Have you tried taking Trazodone again?

Hello, I've been taking Trazodone 200mg every night for a long time, initially I was on a small doze and was having sleep problems. Then my doze was increased. For me it's only for sleep and it seems to work well. But I hear you I've had some nights of insomnia before I started taking it. It also happened once due to great stress and I was crying and up all night while taking it but the insomnia was a direct result of high stress.

And I also have constipation because of Geodone since I have bipolar, didn't know that Trazedone causes constipation too. I've been struggling with constipation for a long time, any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Definitely use miralax while taking Trazadone. It has no taste and no smell. I put it in my Coffee
