Is wearing a bra painful for anyone else?

My breasts are so sore that I've gotten to where I just cannot hardly wear a bra. When I do it makes the pain in my shoulders and neck almost unbearable. Around the house I just wear a cami under my tshirt but when I go out I feel that I must wear a bra and I can hardly wait to get home and take it off.

Is it your skin or your muscles hurting? I get spells of my ribs hurting and making it very uncomfortable to wear my bra.

I guess you would say it's my muscles that are sore and hurting. Normally I have pain in my shoulders and neck most of the time but when I put a bra on it really makes the pain worse. You would think that the support of a bra might take some of the pressure off your shoulders and neck but not for me. And I'm a big gal so I wear a good support bra.

Bras pull on me too. I hate them... Too restricting... But wear one when I absolutely have to...

I find bras painful too... I tend to wear thick tops, or otherwise wear padded sports bras.

I was having a lot of pain wearing a bra as well. I am also a bigger size woman. I went out and found the most comfortable bra, with no underwire. I thought it may not be supportive enough for me but it is. It is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn. Have you tried to wear a bra with no underwire. The one I found is almost like a sports bra but it has plenty of support and is very comfy.

My back hurts so bad I'm usually in tears by the time I can take it off! My pain is across my back where the bra band is & all of the sports bras or shelf bras built in to tshirts hurt as bad as bras, so the only thing I can do is wear a bra with a band that is too big, or on a bad day I just go without. At home I never wear one, & I'm a D cup, but it's not worth the pain. I tend to wear oversized shirts & I'm 69 yrs. old so I figure what the heck, I'll probably never see those critics I see again! tongue

yes most of the time. i bought a sleep bra with stretch, it helps most of the time.

It's the last thing I put on before I leave the house and the first thing to come off as soon as I step back into my home. I hate them!

Mine is not underwire. It's just a good Playtex support bra with the padded straps and it's not even that tight. Maybe I should try just a cotton sports bra that stretches with you but I've always thought those things just weren't made for us full busted women. I tried them years ago when I played softball but they just didn't seem to offer enough support.

Pain at times, but mostly when my gastritis flares up, and the elastic digs into my rib/stomach area.

No matter what bra I wear the pain in shoulders and across back, shesh.
My aunt makes her own bras, she is a big size like me. Anyone know the pattern and want to create a business? LOL!!!

I was just telling my husband how my bra is hurting me. I just bought the second new bra in one month. First one didn't work out either. I want to take mine off too. So I totally understand! Lol

Yes!!

Despite my brain fog I remembered we have discussed this before... because so many of us chimed in agreeing that now our bras hurt..

I use to wear very snug fitting bras to keep everything in place & looking nice..
No problems til after the fibro

Very discouraging but just too painful. I too wear a cotton! tank top under my stretchy bras ..

Aside from the pain of the snug band I cannot turn it around after fastening it in front

I've had tons of bra pain which was greatly reduced when I stopped working (no bras at home ;) ). I get discomfort from the fabric and neck/shoulder pain and pain where the lower band rests. There is a certain irony in asking your husband to take off your bra when it's because you can't instead of for fun!

I wear a 42D-DD so I know it's especially hard for us large bosomed ladies to find something comfortable. No more underwires or pretty fabric for me. I have soft banded padded cup bras for when I need a "real bra" and a variety of sports bras for day-to-day outings. At home I don't wear one - usually wear a tank under my shirt just to keep them from being too sensitive. My latest find, at WalMart of all places, is a sports bra with spaghetti straps. The fabric is tight enough to keep the girls in place but the straps don't hold too much weight so they don't pull on my shoulders.

I hate the bra I get pain on the sides where my bra is and all around the back I get it even with out the bra but not as bad. layer ur self tank top tshirt then what ever shirt ur wearing that what someone told me but that don't work for me and my girls arnt that big. good luck in getting relief

I'm also on the large side (38DD) and just can't get away without some sort of support. Going without actually hurts even more than the pressure of the straps and bands. Before fibro, I used to wear underwire minimizers. I still wear them for rare special occasions, but very rarely.

For day-to-day wear I found a wonderful softcup with no wires, the Genie bra. It's not the most flattering look in the world, but provides enough support for comfort and no pain from the straps or bands. I can even step into it rather than pull over my head if my shoulders or arms are really bothering me.

When I have mine on I just hurt so bad across my shoulders and up my neck. It's like 'the girls' are pulling down on my shoulders and neck. You would think that wearing a bra would give support and take the pressure off. I had to wear it to church yesterday for 2 hours and I could barely make it through the service and as soon as I got in the car it came off. I've even gone through my drawer and found an old bra that is stretched out and not so tight but even that one is not getting it.

The first day that I feel like trying bras on I'm going shopping.....I've got to find something.

Underwire is less painful than the straps across my shoulders. All my bra strap tend to slip down my shoulder because they are so loose.

Diane: The brand is Fruit of the Loom. I think they were around $15 for a 3-pack. I don't expect them to last forever but they seem to do OK now!

Mari: I have thought about buying a Genie Bra but haven't pulled the trigger, so to speak. Nice to hear there is a fibromite out there that likes them.

I bought a genie bra but it wouldn't go pass my arm pits. I'm a 48D and they apparently don't make them my size. :-(
