OT PET Scan results

Yesterday was a very telling day for me. A big life decision had to be made and I made it.

The PET scan revealed...cancer in my chest wall, the lung pleura, the lung itself. It also revealed that the cancer had metastasized to my lymph nodes, abdomen and abdomen adrenals. The prognosis is very poor, even with chemo. In fact, I could become much worse. I have strange cancer mutations. I will not do chemo. I'm looking at quality of life vs. quantity.

Hubby and I checking are out hospice home options. My daughter will be flying in on Monday for almost 3 weeks. Her hubby and my grandaughter will be coming the last week.

I was able to get some good pain medication along with some anxiety and anti nausea meds.

I don't want to think of myself dying of cancer, but rather just living with it. My goal is to enjoy all the time I have left, laugh and love. I love you all and will keep you updated.

You made me cry from sadness and happiness.... Sad that you're so sick and near the end of your time here, happy that you're intent on enjoying life to the full. Do all the crazy things you've always dreamed of doing, if you can... I will always remember you :)

I just don't know what else to say except... Thanks for being such an inspiration. You've made it through so much, you're so positive, you're a great role model.

This is certainly not the news any of us were hoping to hear. I have always admired you - your kindness, your gentle humor, your encouraging words. You are a rare woman and a treasure.

Your positive statement, of LIVING w/ cancer, not dying of cancer, is powerful!  As usual, your words are a lesson for all of us. 

I don't mean to be presumptuous, but I have thought of you as a Sister of the Heart. When I have been at my lowest point, you have been there to ease my pain. There are ppl you hold dear in your heart, you are one of those ppl to me.

Your decision re QOL is very sound. You and your family should savor each day, to live, to laugh, and to love.

Ah me. You are one of the wisest people I've ever known...I've admired you for years, the strength and acceptance you've shown through so much adversity, always choosing to keep your face turned toward the sunshine. Always gently encouraging others to do the same...

I'm glad that since you've got to do this thing, you're doing it your way. It's a bum deal, but you are characteristically facing it head-on. I really hope you can stay comfortable so you're able to make the most of your time with your loved ones.

You are handling everything perfectly, as usual, Robin. I'm really proud of you. Having your strong faith does help a lot and allows you to be at peace, too.

I'm very happy to hear that you are comfortable and have the pain under control. I wish I could give suggestions for the excessive fatigue you are experiencing but I think it goes with the territory. Just rest and let others help you out. You have been carrying a full load for years.

It will be wonderful to see all of your family and I know you are looking forward to that. Just remember to pace yourself so you don't get so worn out.
