Here's a general question I'm throwing out for everyone:
Do you think it's possible to cut back on most supplements when one has fibro, and mostly eat the specific foods related to vitamin and mineral needs instead?
I think I do have an 'extra' need for magnesium (yes, I buy the Puritan magnesium malate) and also potassium helps me. I sometimes take lutein, but am thinking of just switching to more lutein-containing foods. I get fairly good prices on supplements, but they still add up. Maybe I could just eat more bananas, etc. for potassium.
One factor I wonder about is how much the supplements are absorbed. Then again, I sometimes wonder how much of my food I absorb properly, too. I don't have a great track record there!
Because my digestion isn't great, I'm debating whether or not I should eliminate a couple of supplements. It's probably a 'give-it-a-try' thing, though.
So--do you think for the most part (maybe with the exception of magnesium malate) we can rely on a single multi-vitamin and eat specific foods for specific body needs? Or are our fibro-bodies an exception in this and we may have a greater need for supplements? I suppose every BODY (as opposed to 'everybody') is different, though, but what are your thoughts? Thanks.
