Finally a Good DR Visit with a Diagnosis

So yesterday was the day that I went to a specialist who deals with Fibro along with other pain related issues.

I found this DR through my own research because my general dr lacked the knowledge nor really a care to help find a specialist.

I can honestly say I have never left a Drs office as happy and satisfied as I was yesterday with this DR. First I was seen by a wonderful and informative medical student who asked me a lot of questions, and I knew he was taking the time to listen. He also did the pressure point test on me.

The doctor came in just a couple minutes after, and talked to me about my symptoms, Poor Sleep, Migraines (which are thankfully under control), Body aches, which have worsened since Sept. And the pressure point test. He clearly stated out a plan of action, a sleep aid to try and Cymbalta to help with the pain. Also I need to see a physical therapist to get my muscle strength up.

He is still making sure that I dont have any other underlying problems so an ECG is scheduled in 3 weeks. He said, fibro is a condition that can only be diagnosed by ruling out all the other possibilities.

My husband and I left about a half hour after I first entered the office and I smiled because I finally felt like I had found a DR who generally cared and understood.

Now onto my journey of understanding this condition better, and doing everything I can to get relief from the pain.

Hi glad you changed doctors....karen is right about moving as much as you can...do you know if he s checking vit d levels? I was shocked by how much strength i lost while thet level was dropping.
Do you get out into the sunshine ?

"A body in motion, stays in motion" there are days with the low d when i just do a couple things and sit, then back up to do a couple more...but usually i use some light yoga and stretching on the floor.

Yes they did check my Vitamin D levels. I was put on a heavy dose for 4 weeks to bring that back up. The DR also suggested a general multivitamin to keep all the levels stable.

I am so happy for you!! Have you bought any books on fibro yet? Reading and educating yourself is so important. I take a large doses of vitamin D weekly. You can buy them in certain pharmacy not just prescription. You might have to keep the vitamin D going like most of us. The normal multi vitamin D dossages usually not enough.

Feel free to ask questions. I learned how to managed my fibro from this forum. Just remember it does take time to find the right meds to work for you. We are all different!
