My appt with the Osteopath

Short version is he did absolutely nothing for me nor did he offer
any new information re pain relief.

He was about 40, very nice, was mind/body/spirit oriented (integrative medicine) but seemed to read off the fibromyalgia handout a lot. I think he might have even said he didn't know much about it.

Disappointing!

I asked about muscle relaxers and he said to stay with my antidepressant even though I said pain relief was my number one concern.

Bella, what do you do for pain?

The osteopath i saw was an osteopathic physical therapist, very hands on.

I have to take anti-inflammatories , have tried to get off of that..and cannot..i cannot take more though so have begun taking tumeric for more help with that...also use topical pain relievers, heat, acupressure, and 1 dose of tramadol per day..very low tolerance for it..i cannot take muscle relaxers , but take a calcium/ magnesium at night which is a natural muscle relaxer...

I am taking nortriptyline that is supposed to help with pain/sleep but so far, I haven't seen
much difference. I have tramadol but it doesn't usually help my pain. I use ice, my hot tub,
occasionally norco if I am wits end. I even have some medical cannabis ointment!

I'm sorry to hear about this experience. Just from reading around the boards over the last few weeks I have noticed that so many people coping with fibromyalgia are stressed by frustrating interactions with doctors. Do you find that many or most doctors out there are lacking when it comes to fibromyalgia treatment? Are there any resources out there for finding doctors who have competency around the needs of fibromyalgia patients?
