My doctor tried to get me to take Lipitor years ago, and I told him that I wouldn't take any kind of cholesterol-lowering medicine because of the side effects, one being an increased chance of diabetes. He told me he was taking Lipitor and would recommend it to anyone. (Oh, btw, he's a member of Mensa...he would want you to know that.) I do think taking Lipitor had something to do with my husband's diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
Fast forward to today. My cholesterol is normal. Did you know that cholesterol can be manipulated? I discovered that in 1997 when I had stomach surgery and had my cholesterol checked before and after my surgery. It was high before my surgery and completely normal after I had gone 5 days with only a liquid diet. I have never trusted that test since. How can you take a pill for the rest of your life based on only a few tests? In my opinion, cholesterol drugs have only been a way for big Pharma to make more money. Did you know that your heart and brain need cholesterol to work like they are supposed to?
Now, lawsuits are popping up against Lipitor:
www.lipitor-lawsuits.com/I think lawsuits against the other drugs won't be far off.
Okay, off my soapbox.
