Lyrica

Sorry for posting so much!

Has anyone had any success with Lyrica? How long did it take to work for you? I've taken it two nights in a row and haven't noticed a difference with sleep. It does make me sleepy, like a double dose of a sleep aid or something, but I haven't noticed a change in my quality of sleep or it doing anything for pain. I know sometimes it takes awhile for medications to have an effect on you and that it's different for everyone, I just wasn't sure about your personal experiences with it.

Thanks! I figured I'd give it a few days, but nothing so far except making me sleepy and groggy when I wake up.

I don't take it, but I do take gabapentin. It stopped my toes from hurting from the bedsheets touching me.

I didn't know gabapentin was used for anxiety.

I don't take lyrica . Was taking Cymbalta but was having rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. Going wait till I see dr before I take it anymore. Hope the Lyrica helps.

I tried Lyrica last year and it had terrible effects. After three weeks I wasn't sleeping, going 37 hours straight before collapsing out of pure exhaustion and the pain was worse than before I started taking it. Anyway my rheumy told me to persist, so I did for another two weeks. They were the worst two weeks of my life. I couldn't sleep, I would sit outside and stare at the sky for hours and my brain would say you need to get inside but my body wouldn't respond, same with going to the toilet, I know I needed to go but my body wouldn't move....I had no control. I couldn't remember things, I was a total zombie till I told my gp and she told me to get of it straight away. When I recovered from the withdrawal and my brain started functioning my husband told me he was really scared how I had reacted but he also trusted the doctor and my body would adjust. When I told my rheumy he said there was nothing else he could do and discharged me as a patient, leaves me on my own because my doctor doesn't have any idea how to deal with the pain, which is excruciating 70 per cent of the time.

I went to a pain clinic and they wouldn't treat me because they didn't think it was fibro so I am now seeing a neuro who put me on gabapentin, which also didn't stop the pain and made me depressed.

My pharmacist told me if pain isn't better in a week don't put drugs into your system. Not everybody is the same but you know how you are reacting and those around you should keep an eye on you because I had no idea how bad I was.

I hope it works for you but don't put up with side effects or the pain if it's not working, talk to your doctor.

Wow that's terrible! I'm also in 50mg per night.

 I was given gabapentin yrs ago by my then pcp. It didn't help me. My DH takes it for diabetic neuropathy and it does help him.

 A few yrs after my try w/ gaba, I was given Lyrica by my ortho dr. I got such severe headaches, I could not function. I told that dr the med caused the headaches. He told me the med couldn't have caused the reaction. I just wasn't trying hard enough. OK. I had lived thru a few yrs of horrific headaches, I was not about to deal w/ that again!!  The dr told me there was nothing more he could do for me, & that was that.

 I didn't get a paper w/ the script, so I had no written word that it could cause headaches. I did find the info a few yrs later that it can bring on nasty headaches, but it was a moot point by that time.

 If you're not having a bad reaction to the med, I would suggest you give it a little time to see if it helps you. Most of these meds take a bit of time before you see a positive difference. Wish you a lot of luck w/ everything.

Thank you all for the info! Still no luck do far but I plan to keep trying it until my next appt on the 17th and then I'll let him know one way or the other.

They thought it was weird when I told them.it caused me.problems Paddington but I know I didn't have that problem before I started taking the gabapentin.
