Wow! You guys have no idea what perfect timing your posts were!! I was just about to post that I needed support in people who understand . WARNING this will be long :)
I did quit my job, but I also knew my employer was going to find a legal way to fire me. I was on intermitten FMLA. Still worked 40 hours but called in about 4x a month due to flares. Whenever I returned to work after being out the work environment was very stressful. The HR woman didn't know anything about FMLA. I mean nothing. She told me there was no such thing as intermittent FMLA , that if there was I wouldn't qualify etc. . They even tried to cut my hours due to my absences. The president and all managers were told of my schedule change and the I had the DOL contact them to tell them it was illegal. Boy, were they unhappy to say the least and let me know it!
I filed for FMLA- in 12-13. It was months of stress and constant battles with me having to get the DOL involve. My company was always compliant once they were told by the Dept. Of labor. By June of 2014 I was so stressed and flaring constantly I went to my Dr, she could see how stressed I was. My blood pressure was sky high. I even ended up in the hospital because I had all signs of a heart attack. Luckily it wasn't. Just stress. I then went to a reduced schedule to 8-2.
It made a huge diffence to actually be home 3 hours earlier because I had an hour lunch. If I could have stayed at those hours I would have.
My position was for 40 and my company would not allow me to work 30. They knew under FMLA they couldn't fire me based on my absences so instead they chose the route to give me a horrible review and in due time were going to fire me due to poor performance ( this was not true but they were going to make it seem that way) they didn't come right out and tell me but alluded to it.
In the end I quit hoping to collect unemployment based on 40 hours. If I waited until they let me go I most likely would have collected less money.
Now in CT if u quit you can not collect except for certain reasons . One of those reasons is that the position at that particular company has caused a medical condition and my health to decline .
I have my hearing on Thursday. I have all the dr documention already faxed over and now I will need to give them my story.
Please keep your fingers crossed. I will then look for part time work.
I'm pretty stressed about the hearing and have been in a flare due to the weather, stress ect...I have not been sleeping at night but do sleep some during the day.....I am not sure if this happens to anyone, but for months there are times that I literally get exhausted so fast and can not stay awake, at all. I will nod off pretty much where ever I am ( never while driving) but my husband gave me such a hard time today about being tired. He had taken a vacation day and I wasn't feeling well but still said we should get out of the house...bad move i kept nodding off at the book store...
He told me just to sleep my days away. It hurt. He doesn't understand. I don't choose to be like this and it won't last forever. My flare will end.
Anyway, if I can collect I am hoping to take a few months of to get my stress under control. I heed to start exercising again and just get into a routine. I am an emotional eater and have gained 60 pounds in five years ( I had 4 major knee surgeries , lots of complications , neck surgery, and diagnosed with Fibro in the past 5 years)
Boy aren't u guys happy u asked!! Sorry for the venting, I really need to talk w people who get it.
Thank you so much for your kind posts. I will keep u posted once I find out if I can collect unemployment!!
Hope you both are doing well๐๐ and thank you all for your support!!
