Clothes for excessive sweating

I've always sweated more than the average person but this summer has been ridiculous. I have to change clothes sometimes because I sweat so much, especially if the temp is over 70 or I'm exerting myself. It's getting really embarrassing and frustrating. I wear as few clothes as possible in public without being inappropriate and go naked at home as much as possible. Does anyone have suggestions on how to better deal with this in public? I've seen things about putting ice packs in clothes...?

100% cotton comes to mind, first. Then, there are those bandana-type of cooling neck scarves that, when dampened, keep one cooler.

I just did a quick search on "clothing to keep you cool" and "items in clothing to keep you cool" and lots of items came up. There are even some name brand clothing items for this, such as "Chill Factor."

Hope this helps a bit. Heat and humidity are miserable. I find the sleeveless cotton shifts are comfy, too.

Do you know the underlying cause of the sweating ? I am often opposite.. I used to never sweat and wondered if that meant i did not release toxins... Now if i am in the sn on hot days i can sweat bullets..i am not sure why..but wonder if its because i use topicals that heat...

Luv has a point about 100 % cotton being better..

Yes, 100% cotton, including your underwear. They even make cotton bras. Keep drinking lots of water. I have been having horrible hot flashes that are the worst I've experienced this summer. I keep my hair short. I wipe my brow with a dry wash cloth and my neck and chest too. I just placed an order for something called an Arctic Chill Towel from a company called Isabella. I am hoping that will provide some relief as well. Evenkeel, when you feel yourself overheating, try to take a break and sit and rest, hopefully in front of a fan. Hope this helps!

I never sweated until my surgical hysterectomy 11 yrs ago, now it seems I don't stop.
I've found the best relief I get is from natural herb - Black Cohash. I get mine at drug store and have found the gel caps have "more" root in them & help most.
At times it doesn't take all the "heat" away but it helps me be more comfortable without & definetely helps sleeping.

I offer a different perspective.

For work clothes, I tend to wear man-made fabrics with an undergarment. Usually dark colored or loose-fitting. I prefer natural fabrics but they show more dampness. There are also sweat-pads for clothing, for underarm wear. They can really help.

I have one of those chill towels and it works great!

I'll have to look into the chill towels. I agree with Myself 09. I wear lightweight 100% cotton most of the time but I find that it makes me clammy because it holds so much sweat and it shows badly with any color but black. Most of the sweating is from my head, weirdly enough. Ljm, my doctor blames it on side effects of my medications and thinks it will get better as I wean off of the gabapentin. I also found something online that talked about excessive sweating being a symptom of chronic mild serotonin syndrome, which makes a lot of sense to me. This sweating is infinitely worse than what I get with hot flashes, which I very rarely have anyway even though I'm not on HRT.

I don't sweat with gabapentin, but I sure did when I was on tramadol.

The clothes that protect people with lupus have things in them that keep a person from sweating too much. You might look into that.

I wear those special clothes. They can be found at coolibar.com. They have light cotton with bamboo fibers woven in.

If you use black cohosh, please have a discussion with your doctor about a schedule for regular liver tests. It has been known to cause liver damage on occasion
