I have to vent this somewhere. On Thursday, I found out that my rides to doctors were expiring the next day. I had no idea why, so I called on Friday and asked. Apparently, someone accidentally cancelled my Caresource insurance (a medicade HMO). The discovered their mistake and fixed it, BUT I have to have straight medicade for all of August. I have to have testing done on Friday that requires a prior auth. I have two medications that also require a prior auth. One I am already out of, and the other is out as of tomorrow evening. I do not need this stress right now.

I also do not know if they will cover my dental appointment that I have in a couple weeks. If they would have caught this a day earlier, I would have my insurance, but I have to wait until September. I think it would just be a inconvenience, but this also affects the rides that I can get to and from appointments. My car broke down a couple weeks ago, and I am totally reliant (well, almost totally) on their transportation. Medicade has this service, but I have to call 7 days in advance for in town trips and 10 days for out of town. Most of my appointments are out of town. I have someone who will take me to the doctor tomorrow, but I have to walk downtown to go to a counseling appointment. I am not sure if I can do it. My hips have been hurting pretty badly today. :/

I'd call up the person who messed up and tell them to give you a ride. ;-)

Naw, but that is a pain in the patoody. Can you move the appointment?

I have three appointmens tomorr ow, and I can makeit to two oof her. I have to reschedule the first one. That I'd okay. It is an easier one to reschedul.

I would love to tell whomever did it to drive mme, but they claim ignorance in the matter. Typical. Oh well. I get to go to the important one. :)

So sorry that this happened. Take a deep breath and take it one day at a time. Maybe you can pay somebody to take you to one of your appointments. I know how it goes though, they can mess up all the time, but if we do, one time, that is it... I hope you get things sorted out soon.

Sorry about the hassle you are going through. Totally understand...

I have learned to just take a breath and know this wasn't done intentionally most likely. Things usually will turn out for the best. I know it's easy to be frustrated at first. I hope you can make your appointments on time. I have to depend on a disability bus too, but I have to pay out of pocket. It sure can add up real quick. It cost me $7.00 round trip. You sound like me with many appointments during the week. I hope after this month my appointments will be less.

Appointment out of the way and now I can relax... for now. ;)

I recently did a calculation of my average miles traveled per month (just me and my lil ol car - when it works eyes ). The numbers came out to about 309 miles a month and 3711 a year. I had no idea I drove to the drs so darn much!!

It is also a credit on my income (or deduction on my rent) or a credit that deducts my rent. Either way, I will not pay as much. If I had known that 6 months ago, it would have been cool.

My case manager at metro housing informed me that I had to give her a spreadsheet with the appointments and milage on it, and she would take care of it. I know it is some cents (maybe what it is for taxes) per mile, but I don't remember what it is off hand. Whatever it is, it is significant. :)

I keep track of the miles by google maps and put them on a chart with doctor's name and date. Then enter it on my tax program. I also get a record from all my doctors and the hospital how much I spend and get tax write off on them.
