"Fibro? Oh, that's just a wastebasket diagnosis, ya know,"....from a hospital nurse just a few years ago.
And then there's my MIL, who's always good for some of the worst, including one of yours, Chotti: "Are you SURE it's not all in your head?" "I'd be too embarassed to do that" (use a reacher), "Oh, I wouldn't put up with that for a minute!" (pick up things with my reacher because I can't get down to the ground," "All you have to do is think of people who have real problems, and then you'll realize - you don't have a one." (Oh, ok. Thanks. Now I feel way better! )
84 years old and the woman hardly ever has a pain. And she passed her genes down to her son, which is great - for him. Not so much for me, honestly, because he really does not get it, after almost 30 years.
And from the world at large: "I used to have that. But I started exercising more and now I don't!"
"My cousin has that and as long as she doesn't eat any gluten, she has no symptoms."
"Do you take good care of yourself? I've heard it happens to people who don't move enough."
"If you just don't think about it, you won't feel it so much."
