Terribly sick.

I came down with a bad coughing virus on the weekend. Sleep is impossible. I only had one night where I slept a bit. It is not letting up. My bladder cannot take the coughing. I am taking over the counter cold/flu pills. Of course I have a canker sore also. I have had canker sores from as long as I can remember. They do appear when I am ill sometimes. Acidity can also be a problem. I use salt and something from the pharmacy for canker sores. My head is in so much pain.

The one night I did get some sleep I had a whole lot of ugly mucous come out the next day.

Hope it will let up soon.

Oh dear, so sorry you're feeling awful!

My husband is just getting over one that sounds a lot like this. He finally had to go in and get antibiotics. I thought he was going to cough his lungs out. I had the exhaustion/general malaise, but much milder on the actual cold symptoms.

Wouldn't you know it, just today - 2 weeks later, I woke up with "fullness" in my throat? ;(

I hope you're drinking lots of water? Or juice or something like it? And propping your head up when you lie down? (Of course, I'm sure you already know all this...)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally called my Doctor's Office. I see the Nurse Practitioner there. I will have to go to their after hours clinic which is OK. My Husband can take me.

I am a huge consumer of our health care system but I sure wish I wasn't.

I drink tea with lemon and honey. I have been drinking peppermint tea and the one night it helped me sleep but not last night. Vick's on my feet. Never heard of that. I do use Vick's just not on my feet. Maybe if you wrap it up with plastic wrap it would be better and easier on the sheets.

I hope you feel better. Please let us know how your appt. went. Being sick is terrible and can cause flares. Try and rest and don't push yourself.

Thanks for your kind responses.

It is now protocol that when you go to a Medical Office with a cough you must put on a supplied mask. I did. The Doctor allowed me to take it off. I asked if he was sure - I said I am coughing my head off.

The Doctor listened to my chest, checked my ears, throat, and asked if I was short of breath. I have a scar on my right lung. I explained everything. I try to clear out my nose but I start coughing. I coughed all last night but did sleep a bit.

I was given a prescription for Omnaris (ciclesonide) nasal spray and a cough syrup called Koffex DM. The plan is to get things moving better and to stop the coughing so I can sleep. The Pharmacy didn't have the Koffex in and suggested that there brand will do the same job. I had to go to a Pharmacy that was open late, my Pharmacy is a small one and is not open late. I tried to converse with my regular Pharmacist to see if Koffex would work better. I will have to get my Husband to drop by to show her what was prescribed.

I am coughing all day and night. The nasal spray will take some time to work. I have used it before. I have had sinus problems and was thoroughly checked out by an E.N.&T. Specialist. I had a CT scan done on my sinuses. I have a slight deviated septum but surgery was not recommended. I have read that many people have deviated septums. I do use Neil Med once a day. I have many times mucous with blood washing out but I have had a long stretch with it being clear, until now.

My head is in so much pain. I can walk still. Only moving a bit. My poor bladder can't take all the coughing. I have to head the bathroom when I start coughing. I will have to face reality and accept that I am aging and need sometimes pantiliners for bladder problems.

Drinking lots of fluid - water and tea.

Diane, looks like we are both in the same shape arthritis wise.

I will improve, will take some time.
