You all have been so wonderful with the loss of my best friend, and my recent fall. It's been a tough month.
Can I please ask for your help, encouragement and prayers again.
My 18 year old niece, had some very unexplained bruising and had blood work done. All her pediatrician will say to my sister is that her platelets are very low and her blood is not clotting as it should. If her count continues to decline she will bleed out . He would not give details about
her levels cause it is not his speciality and did not want to say the wrong thing.
She has an emergency appointment in the smilow Cancer center with a hematologist at Yale New Haven Hospital tomorrow.
We do not know anything else. Of course our main concern is Leukemia but we are hoping and praying it is not. I don't think we will find out a true diagnosis tomorrow but are hoping something positive from it.
I have never seen my sister or mother so scared. They are usually the ones that say " I'm sure everything is fine" their doubt is scaring the heck out of me.
My niece is an amazing, high honors beautiful young woman ready to enter her next stage in life...College..she has worked so hard for her grades! 3.9! average
I would really appreciate any prayers, positive thoughts or anything else you believe in.
I guess this does have to do with fibro because the stress of this past month and this has put my fibro into overdrive. I wonder if it will ever calm down. Took me a half hour to get out of bed, but I went to work, hobbled on my broken foot , and came home trying to keep some positivity with in my family. I have learned to never give up hope..
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Nobody besides immediate family knows. I was really needing to talk this out and ask for help. Help that my niece will beat the odds and her diagnosis with be something less serious.
Sorry to keep coming to you all with bad news...I promise it isn't always like this.💛

Oh Lord we've all been there. When there is a crisis we feel it more than any family member because it also means physical pain for us.
Try consciously relaxing your muscles.
I hope your niece's tests come up good.
Keep us posted Achey All Over.

I have no problem praying for you and your niece. Nieces are very special. I know it must be difficult waiting for the appointment. I hope you can get some rest and pray your foot heals quickly.

Of course I'll be praying for your niece, your family and also you. This would be quite frightening. I hope it's a more simple problem and something easy to take care of. No matter what, they have caught whatever it is in the early stages. Yes, do let us know what you find out.

Thank you all for your prayers! They worked!! Although my nieces platelets count are 1/2 of what they should be. The Dr assured her she does not have leukemia!!!
She will be monitored closely and have blood work taken weekly. If need be she may have a to have a blood transfusion at some time. The dr doesn't know the cause it could be from a really bad virus she had not to long ago.
Thank you doesn't even begin to express my feelings of gratitude. I am so lucky to have you all in this group!!

Good to hear! There are so many weird conditions that doctors don't really understand. Very glad this isn't Leukemia.
Have a good night.

Hello,
I just wanted to give you all an update on my niece again.
First I wanted to share something...I told my sister ( her mom) how I belonged to a forum and asked for prayers for her. I told her how wonderful you all were and how many people were praying for her...my sister told my niece and my niece actually called me to thank me and thank all of you!! She was beyound touched and so appreciative...it bought her to happy tears💕
Since then all of her other blood work has come back good.
Unfortunately her platelets keep declining. She needs to be at least 150,000 and she us only at 50,000. In the last 2 weeks they have dropped 33,000.The biggest concern is of her bleeding out. She will get weekly blood work and if her count gets lower she will heed outpatient IV treatments.
The dr has said at this point it is a waiting game and usually the body should recover in 6 months or so. They do not know the cause.
Absolutely no sports or anything that can cause an injury ect.
Thank you all again for praying for Kaitlyn. I would be so grateful if you could continue praying for her. Her counts are starting to get critically low. It's a lot for an 18 year old to handle.
If it's ok I will give you updates. Hopefully they will be good news!!

I feel confident that they will figure this out. Meanwhile, she is getting very good care. I'll pray for God to
open the doctors' eyes to see what is happening.
When my youngest child got very sick and was in the hospital, they had no idea what the problem was. They said it might be juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, or worse. Now what could be worse? I signed to have her transported to a children's hospital by ambulance and also signed for a spinal tap. My daughter was 4 years old at the time.
All this happened on a Saturday, after being hospitalized for a week already, and they weren't moving her until Monday. I went home, sobbing and prayed and asked God to
open the doctors' eyes to see what was making her so sick...105 fever. Tylenol made her vomit so they had to give her tepid baths every few hours to cool down some. When her fever was high she couldn't move her head but when it was down, she could. That puzzled all of us.
The next day, Sunday, I headed to church and then directly to the hospital. The doctor greeted me with a huge smile on his face. He said, "bingo!" I guess they ran every blood test and other tests three times...except one. A throat culture! She didn't have a sore throat and there was absolutely no redness so they skipped that test. Well it was a strep infection causing all of this!!! They started her on antibiotics and, within three days, she was released from the hospital...after 12 days. They had to check her organs to see if there was damage from having this infection for so long, but she was fine. God doesn't do things half way.
So I WILL be praying this same prayer for Kaitlyn.

Thank you Sherrine!
How scary for you and your daughter. I am so happy the Dr figured it out and your daughter is healthy!!
The Dr said they may never know what has caused her platelet count to decline but that doesn't mean they can't treat her.
I do hope God has a great plan for Kaitlyn, as he did for your daughter, and she will be getting better everyday. With wonderful people like yourself she will be!!!
Thank you, and thank you for your story. It brings a lot of hope
