When i do get sick, i get very sick

Gosh, people around me are dropping like flies with this cold virus...starts as a sore throat...my daughters went into an infection and she is on antibiotics, strong ones...hubby took hers....i feel a little off but am taking oregano and olive leaf extract....trying to keep from getting down with it...

One thing always when i do get sick , i get very sick..and hard to recover...so try like heck not to catch stuff....

These bugs always hit this time of year

It is very important to take all of the prescription of an antibiotic that is given to you...not to share. You can build up a resistance to whatever the antibiotic was given for. Here is an important link about it.

I do hope you don't catch whatever is going around. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday and am getting my flu shot then. We don't have anything in my area...yet. Stay healthy!

Yes--tis the season! I'm wondering if I didn't have it a few weeks ago, when I had a sore throat (though a fairly mild one) and was running a low-grade fever for several days. And I was exhausted!

Since I've bounced back somewhat, I think I'm trying to make up for lost time, which is a definite no-no. Must pace. Must pace. Must pace......

I hope you all stay well. Yes, Ljm, it sure does seem hard to recover when you get so sick. Seems we already have many strikes against us. Stay healthy! The oregano and olive leaf extract sound like a good thing to take. Sounds kind of tasty, too. Would you mind sharing where you buy it?

I am on week 2 of trying to rid of the virus. No where near anyone, in Canada. It is so much coughing. The Omnaris nasal spray is helping my sinuses but I am still coughing. Sleeping some, a good thing. My Husband came down with a cold on the weekend. He seems to have bounced back. He worked from home yesterday but went in today. We both have been drinking tea, honey and lemon. Taking cold pills and cough syrup. I will ask my Doctor about oregano and olive leaf extract. I know oregano is good for fungal problems.

I will get a flu shot when I recover from the virus.

Hope we all get healthy.

'Tis the season, indeed.

My hubby got a really nasty cold that wouldn't leave his lungs, so he's on his 2nd round of antibiotics. I was sick for a few days, but mine was mostly general malaise.

I went ahead and got my flu shot yesterday for the 1st time in - I don't even know when. I asked my doctor about it, (because we've had so many differing opinions about it here on the forum)...and he said there's no evidence that Fibro is autoimmune, so I really should get it. So far, I haven't noticed a thing.

Hi, i buy the oregano oil from puritans pride. I put 3 drops in 3 ounces of water... We take this preventively if we have been with sick folks..and often if we come down with something.

I have read studies from georgetown univ hosp. That said it is one of the strongest anti-virals ever found...

Olive leaf extract, i think is by natures way..i have bought it on amazon and drug store.com whereever the price is best. Puritans probably sells it, didn't check

Got my flu shot yesterday. I've been getting them for 30+ years.

I try to stay away from sick people and I wash, wash, wash my hands when I come home from anywhere and always before I eat.

Prevention is important.

puppylover: What a good point--prevention is important. I think that's a huge factor. I do wish people who have the flu or something similar would stay home so they don't spread their germs, yet that's not always possible for everyone, I guess.

Great point! Prevention ptevention prevention. I wash my hands constantly, I got my flu shot and I keep my distance from anyone who's sick. We've all got more than enough going on, we certainly don't need a cold or the flu on top!

That said, I do have one reason to be grateful for this crazy disease - I'm not getting sick as often! I guess since I'm not working anymore and rarely leave home, I'm not getting exposed to all the bugs and germs everyone is spreading. Praise God for silver linings, right?

i also carry antibacterial lotion in my car and use it before I touch the steering wheel. Plus I use the wipes that many store have to wipe down the shopping cart before I start to shop. If I use the bathroom in a store, after I've washed my hands, I use the paper towel to open the door to keep from touching the door handles.I can't believe how many women don't wash their hands!

True, Sherrine! To not wash your hands after using a public restroom (or even at home) is just....EWWWW.... smhair shocked skull

If a restroom doesn't have a hook on the stall door to hang my purse and I have to keep it on the floor, after I get home I put "Mr. Clean" to work, and wash the entire outside of the purse, as well as the strap.  I don't even want to think about the germs on the floor in a public restroom!

I obsessively wash my hands from October til spring time, and use hand sanitizer every time I go somewhere public, or touch something that isn't mine.
I wear a scarf, light one so if someone close to me cough, I can cover my mouth in it.
I also warned people in my family that if they are sick, to not invite me over.

Last time it happened, they didn't warn me and I had pneumonia from one of them.

Up my vitamin D too.

And it's true, that if we're more careful, we're not as sick!

Hoping everyone here will be virus free for the winter :)

With hubby sick, have practically washed my hands off : )

And i use clorox wipes around behind him..lol... I know he is not as careful as i am ...

We also use seperate bathroom in the house when one of us is sick.

I confess i am germaphobic . Because we already have enough stuff to deal with.

Also when i am heading out in public ...i suck a vit c drop on my way out, and if others are coughing, i take the oregano oil when i get home...

Hey we do what we can to stay well , but it doesn't always work...

I canceled a dinner out this week, just in case..not to take the bug in somewhere else cause its a nasty one.

In our family you are allowed to come sick only to thanksgiving and christmas. And we put the sick ones together...lol
