Hey sorry for all the posts tonight but I'm bored and doing a lot of reading.

Just finished reading a few long articles about medical marijuana for fibro (don't worry, it's not against forum rules.) The study showed that it was by far the most effective for managing pain and other symptoms. It was studied against Cymbalta, Lyrica and Savella. Users of mmj reported less side effects from marijuana than traditional meds. They also said they were less or equally impaired compared to narcotic pain meds. Makes me wonder if I should give it a try. I tried it recreationally about 10 years ago and haven't since but it's came along way since then. I may look into this more tonight and see what others think.


Anyone want to share their experience with it?

I have never tried it. My state has medical Mj and I was tempted to try it. We are going to vote like Colorado. I will vote yes for it. My concern is that I have a dependency gene so I tend to not want to try it. I know many have tried it for many issues and it seems to work for them.

Just remember if your under pain management you can't use it. Plus if you work at certain jobs you might be subject to a urine test. Many things to think about before trying it. I would worry about driving a car and MJ can show even one month after using. I guess I need to way these things out before I vote.

Personally, I have strong reservations about it. I don't believe I would ever use it.

I know there continues to be a lot of debate and difference of opinion, but from what I'm seeing, it appears in some places they're putting it on the fast track, which I don't think is wise.

What I find troubling is that some (a core group, maybe?) are pushing so hard for it that they seem to want us to overlook any controversy, debate, or questions about it. Just full steam ahead. A red flag in my book.

Just my humble opinion.....I know some here think differently about it.

I use it and yes you can use it with pain management if you find a doctor that isn't against it. Some pain medications work very well with mm.

I find it relaxes me and therefore my muscles relax. Especially the shoulders. When mine are tense, the hang out with my ears. I hold them up. Which makes them more sore.

I hope you find that the mm works for you. I know it works for me... Helps with sleep too.

You do not necessarily get 'high' from medical marijuana. It is specially bred to have pain reduction properties in abundance, while lessening the properties that will impair judgement.

One of the big issues with MM is that, due to federal laws created in 1970 by Congress (not physicians), many drug companies cannot create safe, non-altering uses of the drug.

Ive also heard you don't get very high or high at all if you use the right strain in the right dose. There are hundreds and hundreds of different strains to choose from.

Yes, there are different strains for different uses. mm high in cbd's is what you want if you want pain management. It is usually lower in thc (which gets you high). But not always. The thc can go up to 25% or even more, you can find it lower. The cbd's run low numbers. but can go as high as 15. Or more... I find that the thc helps with depression some. It always seems when I use it, I relax. This helps the fibromyalgia too because it relaxes the muscles. But I like how it helps with the mind too, which is usually mind over matter. The psychological effects can help with the amount of pain you experience. Know that narcotic pain relievers don't actually take pain away like an aspirin or Tylenol. It just does something to the brain so you don't feel it. I feel mm can help with pain just as much if not more so. I hope that it helps you too.

interesting thread. I've been away for a while. I would be very interested in trying mm. I'm in my 60s; 30 years' ago I was smoking weed, was diagnosed with FM and amazingly didn't need to use any meds; I also was diagnosed with depression and chronic anxiety...it took care of that too. I am in IL, I believe it has been legalized here, but where do you find doctors that will prescribe mm?

Mmj can cause a drop in blood pressure and it is really helpful to be well hydrated when experimenting with it. Also consider vaporizing for pain and nausea management instead of smoking it. Plan to relax on the couch and watch a hilarious comedy. Let us know how it works for you if you decide to give it a try. :)

It helps me psychologically too. I am hoping it can take care of my FM too.

I would look on the internet for MM doctors in your area. That is what I did to find. Often they run pain clinics. Two here that I know of do.

Rhiannons~Ekco... Very good point on the vaporizer. I am thinking about getting one. I have one for hash oil, but not for the actual herb. They are a little expensive, but they are coming out with them cheaper now.

If you plan on trying mm.. I'd recommend starting off slow and do your research. Marijuana is like 100x stronger than it was back in the 60s!

I do use MM....it does help with the pain in my case--BUT, it definitely is super strong these days (which I don't like) ..plus, (for me) it amplifies being tired and forgetful....But, some days, when nothing else works to take the 'ouch' away, I am willing to feel a little (more) flaky for some pain relief. I think everyone is affected by MM a little differently..........I think it is a 'good thing' for it to be available to those whom it helps. ;)
