Hi Lynnwood:
I, too, am having a hard time getting my weight down. I am nowhere near doing all the things you do to be in better shape. I was using weights but my Headache Doctor said it is not good for the headaches (at least some of the positions). I can't lift heavy stuff.
There are a few things that are not helping me. Put on weight with Lyrica and was taken off. I am using an HRT - Premarin which can cause weight gain. The wretched headaches are making it so hard to do a whole lot of extras. I was doing a Physio in a heated pool and I would walk some on that day. Didn't lose any weight. I did find this week that doing extra stairs to the basement is helping but I have put myself in much pain. Catch 22.
Another problem that might be a cause is my Thyroid. I had one reading that suggested I may have low thyroid (Hypothyroid). I then had to do another blood test and that came back with a better reading. So, no medication yet. My Nurse Practitioner will do another test next year when I go for a Physical.
I do have a scale that shows your muscle count. If I am up some and the muscle count is up then I figure the extra weight might be from muscle. This can happen if I take a walk to my Drug Store which is 4 blocks from my house. I haven't done the walk since our car accident in August. I will get there.
I do think many women do change shape as we age. For me I have been up and down many times in my life. We are eating healthy foods. I have been eating some extra things to try to get enough Calcium with food. Almonds for example. They do have high calories though.
Just some reasons. I know for me I need to weigh and measure foods to make a serious attempt at weight loss.
