It's one of those 50/50 chances. Only you know how bad you are feeling. The worst they will say is we can't help you. if you have tried all the home maladies like you say you have and still not getting relief then what do you really have to lose except for them saying no? I would make sure to tell them everything you have tried on your own and that you are extremely worried that you may lose your job because your symptoms are highly affecting your work ability.

let us know how it goes, by the way what state do you live in? I have been in horrific pain since January 1st and I know its due to the extremely below zero temps. good luck sir will be thinking of you

Thanks for the replies. I guess the only thing I do have to lose is them saying no. I do not have any agreements with my PCP or any contracts. My PCP knows how bad I've been lately and for some reason she's been putting it off.. I think it's because I asked for a pain management referral. My job and sleep are being affected by this and it seems like I can't get any treatment that actually works from anyone.

I slept maybe 3.5 hours last night even though I laid down at 8:30..I was sore, achy and couldn't get comfortable.

Your pcp is leaving you out there without the help you need. Ask her office for an emergency appt. i know my dr. Encouraged me to take treatment so i could stay as active as possible.

Do you need a referral to see someone else? You should not have to lose your job for her to think you need more help.

We feel your frustration levels... Thank goodness you knew not t take that particular injection.

Is it possible to find another DR? I really don't think she has your best interest in mind at all!!!!! If it is possible to see a different Dr. then please do so. Use this link below and do a search once on the page. These Drs. are known to work with and help people with Fibro. I just put in United States and Ohio and hit submit and it showed every Dr. in every city of Ohio that works with fibro patients. So do the same only put in your state of course. I hope this helps man.

Thanks for the link, I did a search for my state and there are only 5 doctors and they are all rheumatologists..not a single PCP. I tried calling around Friday and 90% of the doctors I asked for do not treat chronic pain patients. I called asking if DR. ? is accepting new patients and the majority of responses I got were "yes, as long as you are not currently a chronic pain patient or on narcotics." no joke. There must be some epidemic in my city that I'm unaware of.

I sometimes have luck with the urgent care at my doctors said medical group. I did however use one of the mash units for a little bit. It was around the corner and very convenient for stupid little things that my doctor didn't really see me for anyway. They prescribed Tamiflu once which was a huge help when I got the flu last year.

about the time my daughter got mononucleosis, I was starting to have very serious fibromyalgia symptoms. Initially I thought I might've caught my daughter's mononucleosis. I went to the local mass unit just to get tested for safety. I was overtired, having muscle pain and fairly serious eczema. I reported these at the front desk and when I went in the doctor looked at my eczema, said I cantell just by looking at you that you don't have mononucleosis. When I tried to explain that I was there for eczema, muscle pain, swollen glands, fatigue, etc. He said you can't just add on symptoms. I told him I had told them these at the front desk and he got very angry telling me they hadnt written it down. He felt my swollen glands, told me They were a symptom of heart issues and force me to go to the emergency room by putting it in my medical record. It was a very specific attempt to belittle me because he had been caught out. Because of how we handled it, no one could treat me until I had to listen to him and gone to the emergency room.

When I got to the emergency room, they asked me why he had sent me over with her problems. I explained to the best of my ability and tried not to be rude about him. I ended up spending seven hours there because I wasn't an emergency, only to be diagnosed with a mild upper respiratory infection. The EKG they ran was compared to a previous one from a few years before and it was exactly the same and it was fine. This was also true of the one he ran at the MASH unit. The ER doc agreed with me that my symptoms mimic those of mononucleosis and understood why I was there. She ran a test while I was there to check it out.fortunately I was negative. It was probably just a Fibro flair.

I would never recommend that anyone go to one of the medical MASH units. I was initially very happy, but after this experience will never go back.

I am not in the U.S. In the beginning I went to our ER for the pain. I had hoped they would do something to help me. The only thing they could do was prescribe Tylenol 3s. They make me constipated. Looking back, I guess there is not much an ER can do for a long term chronic problem. I no longer go to ER for the usual pain. I had to go after the car accident when I had chest pain. I know people do go with severe migraines and can get help. We are supposed to go to our FP to ask for direction on what to do first.

I think you should be able to tell your PCP, which I think is our equivalent to a Family Physician, that the meds are no longer allowing you to get through the day at work. The reality is, we are not well and work is hard. Pain meds are not a cure but they have a purpose. For some of us we had to give up jobs that we loved and accept our disabilities.

I truly hope you get some help.
