Savella Update

Hi.  I promised I would give an update on my switch to Savella.  Last Friday, one week exactly, I had a complete meltdown.  Left work early, crying, pain, etc.  My anxiety was through the roof.  My doctor started me on a pack of Savella which builds up in your system.  It is one week today and I am not at the full dosage of 50mg in am and 50 mg in pm yet but I can say that the anxiety/depression is much much better.  It has even helped with the pain.  Sort of put a coating on it where it is very dull.  I hope this continues.  I think if you have not tried it and are looking for something it is well worth a try.  Even if it only helps for a while, at least I can function and go to work NOW.  I've learned to take it one day at a time or else it adds to the anxiety and pain levels go up.

I like the way you describe it "putting a coating" on the pain. That is exactly right! Glad it is helping you.

I have tried Cymbalta and did not like it. I did not feel right and it really didn't take away the pain/discomfort, as a matter of fact I felt that it made my knees feel worse. I did not get a bad reaction from it, I just think all it did for me was manage the depression but the pain/anxious feelings remained and I could hardly get out of bed I felt so lethargic.

I also was hesitant to try Savella but I am one week today on a titration pack and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop but I actually felt like a human being today. I cleaned, shopped & while I had moments of discomfort it was nothing like I usually have. Again, it many be too soon to celebrate but I'm hoping faith and prayers will make this one be the medication that makes me turn the corner to a functioning life.

My experience has been positive so far and if you google Savella and read reviews most of them are positive as well.

And thank you everyone for all your happy comments and dances. I have to tell you this weekend my husband said to me "it's so nice to hear you laugh again".

That sounds so Awesome!!! And I happy for you. I will look more into it for myself. Thank you for all the info. Reading your post about how you can do so much now is encouraging. I hope I can get there too :)

I hear you. I have read that many times the medication works for a while and then stops. I hope this is not the case.  I will be sure to let you know on this forum. In any event, I am going to try and enjoy my life now and worry about it stopping if and when it does. At least that's my plan!

It's a long and winding road and I hope you all find what works for you.  I was a bit disappointed today at work because my back/neck/shoulders/arms are really uncomfortable.  Waiting for the Trigger Point book to arrive so I can learn how to relieve the tension.  Baby steps I guess . . . .
