What is the longest your have gone without a flareup?

What is the longest you have gone without a fibromyalgia flareup? I was having them all the time then got them down to 1x every three months. I'm having one now after 4 months. I was really hoping that it was gone forever (a girl can hope). Would love to hear from all of you how it's been. Thanks.

In December I had one day where the pain came down and I felt able to function. Almost felt normal. I have only had a handful of such days in 13 years.

I actually am not sure of this answer..i think because really low vit d got mixed up with the fibro and caused a lot of problems that took a long time to resolve..then came winter, which is always a trigger..

We are turning milder , which usually helps.

LJM, what do you mean by Vit D got mixed up. I started taking Vitamin D. Are you suggesting it can cause flareups?

My pain is daily just at different levels. I hear ya Loring, if I wake up not consumed with pain ; it feels odd.

Hi Huddie,

I was first diagnosed in 2001. I took meds for several years and just got tired of it. It quit taking all my meds. My children were small then so they kept me up and moving and i took supplements. I did this for several years.

In 2012 we were opening a business and I was working 40 hours a week and I think the stress was to much plus I was older. I had a REALLY bad flare and had to start taking meds again. Now I'm unable to work and still taking the meds.

To make long story short, sorry, I've gone a few years with no flares. Yes there were days I felt the effects but nothing I would say was a flare.

I have aches everyday I just categorize it differently. 1. Being everyday aches/pains and 2. Having a flareup that sidelines me. Like now.

That's how I was Huddie. I did have aches and pains. Nothing over the counter meds didn't help and nothing that put me down like now.

Sorry. So you have it really bad now? That is terrible. It's a challenge when you have kids. We live in NYC so everything is moving to get around. Wish we could move. Do you know what triggered it for you? I can't believe there is no cure.

Yes, it's really bad now. My kids are 15 and 16 now so they can help. I really think stress caused it. I got really stressed, I had adrenal fatigue and I just crashed. I'm trying to figure out what works for me now, even after a couple of years. 😟

I really believe stress causes 99.9% of all illnesses. Mine was triggered by an environmental toxin. Apparently my immune system went into overdrive to rid itself of the poison and there are certain chemicals, can't remember the name, that don't turn off or work properly. I had such a full life and now not so much. Also have adrenal fatigue. Adrecor helps for the adrenal stuff and to lower cortisol levels (stress hormones). Huddie, what environmental toxins made you sick? I just heard a story of black mold illness looking like fibro and CFS.

Yes.. My d levels were way too low, which caused so much more pain,and weakness, muscle cramping, forgetfulness. I think the fibro was greatly enhancing the low d symptoms..and vice versa

I lost a lot of strength during that time , which i am slowly rebuilding

I think the longest I've ever gone without pain was one hour.😆
The longest without a flare up has been a few days.

I'm never pain-free but I don't dwell on it because pain comes with the territory. I find if I keep busy then the pain fades somewhat in the background.

I agree. On subtle pain days I just ignore it. On bad pain days like this week I just do the bare minimum. But the sun is shining in NYC so I'm going for a walk no matter what. Sun! Feel good everyone.

I believe I went a couple of years without a flare, until this fall. The weather played a huge roll in my health. Very damp and rained a lot. Then winter came, snow, rain and then way below zero temps.

I agree with what was said about stress causing a huge percentage of why we get illnesses, flare ups and the like. Stress has caused me a lot of health problems and I think it is why I got fibromyalgia. So I do the best I can to keep my life stress free and I think that is why I haven't flared a lot in the last few years.

I used to write flares on the calendar then I didn't have one for long I stopped keeping track. Just coming off one right now however which is probably weather related.

We'd all love to avoid stress but how is that done? To live is to have stress.

I say really enjoy the times when the pain isn't so bad. It sounds like some of you have relief rarely, I'm sorry to hear that.

On this topic,

I remember always flaring with hormonal changes monthly, and heaven forbid if a low pressure system came in at the same time 😥.
