Do you ever get random new symptoms? Anyone have "heat sensations"?

I posted the other day about muscle twitches all over, mostly my legs, which are still present, but maybe abating slightly. Now I have a weird new thing going on. A few times a day, I will get a sensation on the outside of my right calf that feels like my leg is pressed against a heater or warm air is being blown on it or something. It feels very warm. But when I touch it, it's not any warmer than usual. It's not painful, just...disconcerting. It only lasts a few seconds at a time. It's always in the same spot.

Anyone else have this? The problem with fibro (as I'm sure you all know!) is it's hard to determine what is "just the fibro" and what might be something else that warrants a trip to the doctor. It's always hard for me to decide whether to ignore something and write it off as fibro, or schedule an appointment (always with the fear that I'll be dismissed quickly since I've got the fibro diagnosis.)

Any thoughts? confused

Yep! That's not all that uncommon. I also get cold spots and spots that feel like I sat in some water. Occasionally I'll feel like there is a bug crawling on me and there is nothing there and I have also felt like water was slowly running down my leg.

Fibro can be pretty strange at times.

I think i have had the heat feeling before in my lower leg. Also from time to time..i will feel like i am being stung by bees on my lower legs...thats always been a below the knees thing.

Yup, I've had those strange sensations before. Heat, cold, in water, like ice against my skin. Very odd.

I haven't had the symptom that you mentioned, but I do get strange random pain all over my body.

I just posted about the ones that have been happening in my abdomen.

I totally agree with what you said about knowing when to see the doctor. I wish my doc would say to me
"I know fibro is difficult to live with. I just want you to know you can come see me anytime and we'll try to figure out if what you are experiencing is fibro or something we need to take care of right now".

Camas - I would love to have a doctor say that. I have a couple of good docs, but I get the feeling I may be straining their patience. I may just be a little sensitive, but it's kind of overwhelming to have to worry about whether you should tell your doc or not.

I get hot and cold spots - sometimes side by side on my body, but they feel hot and cold to anyone's touch. It's due to my CRPS and they help regulate it with Verapamil. Something about the brain doesn't send blood to the right locations at the right time or something like that. If you get them and can feel the temperature difference, check that out. It's important to make sure you are doing good stretches if you have CRPS and are careful with how you exercise (sound like anything we know?). I don't know how we are supposed to keep things straight. CRPS is just like Fibro except where it isn't. And then it's like RA or Lupus .... except where it isn't. I know it makes it tough on the doctors.

I do have other random pains. Sometimes I know why and sometimes I don't. My rule of thumb is 5 days without any relief before I call in. Not sure if its a good timeframe, but that seems to be the one that works. I'm also a big one to research. It seems like a lot of our issues can be handled by specific stretches. Since I'm seeing pain management, no one will send me to Ortho or Physical Therapy (this makes no sense to me). I've been trying to work up a plan of my own to stretch all the right areas and use myofascial pain release.

Camas: I would love to have a doctor like that! My current GP is really great and patient and understanding, but sometimes I just feel like I'm coming off as a hypochondriac, even if he's never implied it. He will offer to send me for various tests, but it's also difficult because I have a high deductible plan and am always weighing the severity of the problem against the cost of the testing. (Haven't come close to meeting the deductible yet this year.)

Firefly: The 5-day rule is a good one. I have been having this awful muscle twitching for 3+ weeks and know I should just go to the doctor. Sigh. I have a follow-up with him next week for a med check anyway, so I think I'll just bring it up then. I'm just dreading the game of "Are the tests worth the costs or not?" that I mentioned above.

Yep! I get hot spots on my legs every now and then and sometimes in weird random spots on my toes too. It's nerve issues. Mine only last a few seconds at a time too.

I have experienced hot spots before. One time I was in bed under my electric blanket with my knees up. My knees started getting too hot so I went to turn my blanket off and it wasn't even on.

I had also wondered if this was a fibro thing. I have a sunburn feeling all the time, but this was very different.

OMG!!!! I LOVE this posting!!!

For a long time, I have been getting sensations mostly on my legs, where i feel like there's a few drops of water there, and I go to wipe it off, and there's nothing there!! I thought I was completely nuts! (Well, I am, but not for that apparently!) I am thrilled to learn that others have had similar experiences. I also have those feelings like there's a bug or something on me, but when i look and try to brush it off, nothing!

Wow!!! You have no idea how excited i am to know this whole thing is not just me!! That it's a real "thing".

I also get the weird muscle twitches in my arms and legs--where you can actually see the muscle move--and within the past year, have been dx with bilateral idiopathic blepharospasms (fancy words for saying eyelid spasms w/ unknown cause).

Thanks so much for posting this and for everyone who was willing to share their own stories/info. I am seriously just blown away--these symptoms finally fit somewhere, they are not so much "random" weird things just happening to me! Wow!!
