Please take this tongue in cheek as intended (sarcasm).
I am not wealthy, beautiful, nor do I have a smoking body. What I have always been told I have is smarts. Maybe not a lot of common sense, but brains. So imagine how frustrating it is for me not to be able to figure out how long I have known someone if I met them when I was 8, and I am now 47. Or last night when I was trying to explain to someone how I always thought my wrist pain was because I lay my wrist on the _______________ (steering wheel) when I drive. I could not come up with the word. I seem to be losing words more often. It is frustrating!

Oh, don't get me started! I hate this!!! I have been told similar things. "Oh, you're so well spoken". Now, I'm struggling for the right words, and have to say "you know the thing you do blah blah with".

Grrr it is so very frustrating. Makes me nervous when it happens to me too. Especially if I'm speaking with someone I don't know well. I don't want them to think I'm uneducated. lol

It's awful. Either drawing a blank, or in the rush to get something out, saying the wrong word. I teach and it can be so embarrassing.

Luckily--I have a persona that can be goofy as well as serious, and so I play those forgetful moments as dingbat. Ditto the occasional loss of balance. It's worked for me so far.

Ahhhh....fibro fog strikes again! You have to learn to laugh at this because this is part of fibro. I was Dean's List in college but couldn't remember my phone number a few years ago. I had to pull out my checkbook and read it off of my checks. I used to get frustrated, worried and so on and that just made my memory worse!

We all seem to do goofy things like putting peanut butter in the freezer. I tried starting my car with the key to my freezer....twice! You'd think I'd remember that mistake but I didn't.

My daughter fills in the blanks for me now. LOL I just laugh. Can't do anything about it.

There is a good book called The Memory Book by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas that I read many years ago. It is still sold on Amazon. I use many of the techniques from that book and it does help me some.

I hate when that happens! Unfortunately, my biggest memory lapses happen with names. :-( Just last week I was telling my bf a story and for the life of me, I could not remember my cousin's name!!!!! I felt absolutely horrible!!!! Didn't realize that that is ANOTHER common thing with fibro.

Thanks Sherrine. It is nice to start to put all these puzzle pieces together, and realize that I am not alone. I just found out that my sister in law has Fibromyalgia. I never knew, and we are relatively close. I told her we will have to get together so we can share stories. (I know that is premature as I am still waiting for a confirmed diagnosis.) Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us all. It is such a blessing. Any good books on Fibromyalgia you can recommend? I have read a lot on the Internet.

I walk down a hallway to the accounting office and yesterday I walked back there 3 separate times and forgot what I was going there for???
My husband has told me multiple times not to rent or buy movies without him because I always duplicate them, even if we'd just watched one last night, I'd be picking it up again & argue with him that we never seen it until..... about 5-10 minutes into it. LOL

This happens to me ALL the time. I read for hours every day, I started reading full length novels in the 3rd grade so I've always had a large vocabulary. It is so frustrating to go quiet in the middle of a sentence, mouth hanging open, looking like the lights are on but no one is home, trying to find the word "fork" or "pillow" lol.

My hubby is pretty sharp though, and thankfully he's really good at filling in my blanks.

It also worries me too sometimes that people will think I'm over medicated or high when this happens, which is not the case at all. Sometimes I wish I could carry around a sign that says "if I have trouble with my words it's because I have fibro".

I love to read. It has always been my passion. I would read through a book so fast my dad would say there is no way I could know what I read. I would start to tell him chapter by chapter what the book was about until he would stop me. LOL. Now I will start reading a book on my Kindle and it will have bookmarks where I read it before, and I don't remember. It is like I am reading a new book.

Mattie, I just tell people that I have an illness that causes cognitive memory problems occasionally. That's the truth and it shuts them up! yeah

I'm not embarrassed about it now. I didn't ask for fibro and am doing the best I can with what I have to deal with. Hold your head up high! We are tough, compassionate people.

I do the same thing!! I forget words all the time and names as well. I say things like you know who and umm.. that thingy.. lol :) Then there are times when I say things like I just put dog in the oven it should be ready in 20 minuets. hahaha And my poor hubby is staring at me and says you WHAT??!! You put the dog in the oven?? And all I can do is stare at him and ask did I just say that?? And he instantly starts to laugh and goes to check that the dog is safe and sound, not in the oven. hahah I get so frustrated and sometimes his laughing at me isn't ment to hurt my feelings but it does. I hate not being able to speak right sometimes!! I also teach(paraprofessional) and the kids are pretty good about me having issues with words. Sometimes they finish the sentence for me. lol :)

I do the same thing. Sometimes I cant remember words and other times I substitute words with a couple of the same letters withou even knowing it. It's fun when you are discussing technical things.

Jenni says "We will need 8 softballs for this router"
Jenni meant "We will need 8 sfx modules for this router"

I am oblivious and everyone on my call is laughing hysterically. Fortunately, people are nice and I tell them I suffer from CRS ... Can't Remember "Stuff"

I had near to an identical memory. Now I have a software program where I write EVERYTHING down. Good thing it hasn't killed my typing skills .....

I read a lot, books from the library and also on a kindle. Since I kept checking out the same books at the library I now put a very tiny check mark inside the front cover. All I have to do now is open the cover and quickly know if I've already read it.

Amazon has a wonderful feature that let's you know if you've purchased the same book in the past. Works great for me, love this feature about Amazon.

I was talking to a stranger in Walmart yesterday and was giving her directions to a meeting for a support group. I couldn't think of the word "parking deck". She had to guess the word for me.

We both laughed at the foggy incident.

I do this on a daily basis. It can be so frustrating when you can't think of your good friends name. I think people that I am close to know me now.

I do feel sometimes that communication is just a game of Charades.

Don't know how many words, don't remember what it sounds like, but I think It had a "C" in it....no that's not it.....nope......oh yeah, that was it. .... "Gilligan's Island"

Yes, the reference to a "c" in it happened to me. 😝
