I've been on Gaba for about
a yr now, 200mg in the morning, 200mg afternoon, 400mg before bed. I find that it helps a small bit with sleep, and I've had a small reduction in the random sharp pains (the ones that show up suddenly then disappear after a min). But haven't noticed any other improvements. No weight gain from that either.
Going to be finding a new doc soon for a change in meds cause the cyclo (flexeril) does absolutely nothing but give me side effects, so I don't have much working atm. But we'll probably be moving back down south at the end of the school year, so I think I'll wait till then. Last doc was in New Orleans, and I'm up in Missouri now, but if we move back to Louisiana at the end of May, there's no point going to a doc up here.
Just make sure you have a doc that will work with you to find what works the best. In NOLA, my GP diagnosed me, and when I told him the cyclo didn't do anything, he referred me to a rhuemy. The rhuemy was one of the top there, so I thought he'd help me, but he only saw me for 5 mins and told me to keep doing what I was doing even tho I gave it a mth & 1/2 before telling them it didn't work. Don't be afraid to talk to your doc and demand as much time as you need with him like I was. Find someone good who'll listen to you, and you'll be able to find the best options for you.
