Neurologist

I wanted to ask if any of you have seen a neurologist and how? Were you referred by your primary care doc and for what reason? I am asking because my husband and I are trying to get me an appointment for possibly a nerve conduction test but my primary care doctor says he is not able to refer me to a neurologist in their system. We are still looking for answers because my pain is getting worse and more debilitating. Most of the nerve pain is in the lower part of my body.

Also, can anybody recommend a doctor in the north Florida region?

My rheumatologist referred me to one because I was experiencing numbness, itching and tingling in my feet and legs, and suspected neuropathy, in addition to other nerve issues. She thought an EMG and nerve conduction study would confirm it. In my medical group, there are two neurologists. I looked both of them up on healthgrades.com and vitals.com. I look to see where they went to school, when they graduated, if they are board certified, where they interned and did fellowships, whether they were published, and get an overview about them from a patient perspective as well. I found my physiatrist this way, and a few other medical specialists. this has worked for me. I also ask around from friends and family.
