I had something similar. I know what you mean about it being hard not to be a hypochondriac. The pains for this tend to be insidious and some days just feel wrong in a weird way.
My armpit area pain was radiating because of a frozen pectoral is minor muscle. It's spread the pain around and now I have pain in the scalene muscles and developed TOS. I am in physical therapy which is one of the better choices i could have made.
The therapist gently, but politely told me need to stop slouching. :). I apparently hunch over when i am in pain.
As a suggestion - I actually do better if I can research my issues. There are web sites out there that cover muscle pains and ones for myofascial release. I can't suggest one at the moment, but I found them with web searches and it helped me tremendously to find a site and pin down the pain to s reason and then be able to formulate a plan. Otherwise, for me, my head goes off on a tangent thinking cancer or lord knows what. Ignore the diagnosis sites ... That way will drive you crazy. It's like the joke about the 1st year psychology student - the only things they haven't diagnosed someone with are the ones they haven't learned about yet.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes,
