I know this topic has been beat to death on this forum. I just need to talk to some people who understand. Today has been a bad day for me with fibro fog. I was in a conference call today and could not come up with the word confirmation (as in confirmation email.) I came up with all kinds of synonyms, but not the one word that I really wanted. Finally my husband helped me figure it out. On the way home from church I was talking about the disability conference that we are going to next week. The one we have attended for 16 years. I could not come up with the name. I am definitely in the midst of a mild flare. And this makes me emotional. Most people would think it is no big deal, and would not understand why it upsets me so much. I need a good cry, and a good night's sleep. I realize that this "may" be my new normal. But I don't have to like it!

I'm so sorry, Tammy! I understand and it IS a 'big deal' to not be able to communicate clearly or effectively. I've said many times that I miss my 'brains'.

I have taught bible studies for many years. It has become more and more difficult to remember and communicate biblical truths... ones that I've known for years but now the word or text will escape me. I would hate to give up this part of my life but I also know that I am not in control of my life. Actually, it brings me a great measure of peace realizing that I am not ultimately in control of these kinds of things.

All that to say... I understand. No, we don't have to like it. That is for sure. But, I am finding it brings me a greater level of peace though if I can accept it.

We all do have times we lose the words..todays world is pretty stressful..

Thanks. It is turning out to be a rough night. 22 year old daughter at ER with legs swollen twice their size, weakness and disorientation. Dr says it is fluid retention and vertigo, won't do any labs, and wants to send her on her way. Daughter is very upset and keeps texting me. I don't understand this Dr.
I do appreciate your words of support. I am still learning about this new diagnosis.

I just call it my pudding brain time. If I struggle too much with it it gets worse. I just relax and go with it and it comes back slowly.

How is your daughter, Tammy? I don't understand a doctor doing that, either! ;(

She isn't feeling well today. She has an appointment scheduled to see her dr tomorrow. Thank you for asking.

Oh fibrofog is a tough one to deal with. Most of the people I hang with are my age and have word retrieval problems also, so they fill in the blanks for me. If it's a noun you're trying to think of imagine that in front of you and say to yourself what is that and you'll have the word. Helps sometimes. I went to warm water exercises today and forgot my bathing suit and towel. I decided I'd get some rhubarb and drove right past the market. It was too difficult to get back to it so I decided I didn't need rhubarb crisp anyway, too many calories.
Hope your daughter is better. Our kids affect our wellbeing a lot.

Sure hope her dr..can get her symptoms figured out quickly.

My daughter has fibro also , and i sure worry over her. She is not good about treating her symptoms until she is too far into a flare.

I made her a cheat sheet for getting through a flare... So when she starts feeling overwhelmed she can take it out and have steps to follow..

I think with the fibro we are so sensitized to our loved ones stress.

Hope you are doing better as well as your daughter.
Fibro flare can be a pain in the assets but, I've learned to laugh at myself more now because of it.
Like this morning, I got out of the shower but, forgot to rinse the conditioner out of my hair first idea DUH! smilewinkgrin

I used to be able to attach words similar and professionally or informally dance about my sentences until the correct word materialized. Recently with mtbi and fibro fog, oh boy ;). It is getting a bit better and my friends n family mostly understand that I have taken to using examples when speaking; this works ok. It makes me cry and I just feel ignorant! I learned to stop, breathe and simply apologize and explain. Then I turn the tables and ask the person to fill in the blank. This seems to work 90% of the time, with no tears on my part.
My daughter has fibro and lives nearby. I assisted her with docs in the early days but as she's older those drs that just seem to be loopy are crazy making for us both. I wish her fast and quality assistance.

I hear you peanut. I worked in a medical office handling many cases for four doctors. I could recall most per hundred of my patients.....but now..I could never do it. I just can't keep up with the old me but by a mere fraction. I am four and a half years into this. Fighting still to understand the new me and not be pissed because I'm not the old version.

I can't assume I understand what you're going through, but I can relate with the experiences and emotions. I hope you enjoy good days soon.
