Hi guys. I've noticed that I'm feeling pretty depressed these days. I've been on Lyrica for my nerve pain, and I know depression can be a side-effect.

Have any of you experienced such severe depression that you stopped taking it? I plan to talk with my rheumy on the 30th of this month. I really hate to go back to the constant burning pain of my nerves. It was overwhelming.

I am so very limited on what I can take for pain, because I am severely anemic. Is Gabapentin's list of side-effects frankly scares the heck out of me.

My shoulder and neck surgeries have been put on hold, because my gyno found a "large mass" a week ago. I have an ultrasound tomorrow to see how to go about getting it out of me. This means I have to put up with that pain for even longer. It took forever to get it figured out, and I was so looking forward to having it fixed. Now, there's this new, and much more scary monster lurking within. Ugh!

Any advice/ideas?

Sorry to hear you are feeling depressed.

I have not taken lyrica, but meds are often a dilema .

Sure hoping everything goes well with the new issue.

I use tramadol for pain, in low dose

I have tramadol as well, but it doesn't seem to do much for me. Most of my pain is from arthritis. I used to be on Meloxicam, and it helped, but they made me stop because of anemia.

I hope everything will be okay too. My maternal grandmother died of ovarian cancer, and my mother has had cervical cancer. I'm feeling like the odds are not in my favor. :(

I did not notice depression as a side effect of Lyrica. I was on it for a couple years. I didn't stop all of my pain but once off I noticed that it did help some. Perhaps your Doctor could lower your dose? Everybody is so individual when it comes to meds. Came off Lyrica due to weight gain.

You have a lot on your plate so it may be contributing to the depression. There is quite a history of various cancers in my Family too. I have a scar on my right lung that has been viewed many times by x-ray and with CT scans. It was decided that it is a scar. I try not to think about it too much. I also have cysts on my kidneys. Cancer is not anything anybody wants to hear being diagnosed. For me as long as I keep going to sleep and waking up, I will get up and get through another day.

Sorry to read that your surgery is on hold. Do have a look at the Chronic Pain forum. There are many people who have had neck surgery who chat on that forum.
