Forgot to say that magnesium oxide seems to move my bowels along quite well. I think magnesium malate may be better absorbed so it's for the fibro symptoms. And I gradually added in some 250 mg. pills of magnesium oxide (some people may like magnesium glycinate better). But I say use the low milligram pills until you know what amount is best. Otherwise your guts can feel like they're burning, ripping--- some kind of uncomfortable adjective.
Mark London in his fibro/magnesium researched piece (an MIT.edu address) said when you try to figure out your proper magnesium dose, only make increases in agnesium doses every other day. I have that figured out now, and knowing what doesn t burn/rip, now I can jump into a day with. My 3 + 2/ total of 5 pills in a day.
We're all gonna be different, but 4-5 of those 250 mg. magnesium oxide pills will put an end to my constipation. Say I stopped taking it (cuz I'll get lazy with the pill swallowing on occasion) then I'll take three @ 250 mgs in the morn, and another two that night. I don't swallow 5 at once.
That's a discussion of MY doses. You have to figure out your own milligram amt. But I'm saying that when taking the maximum of my "let's have some bathroom action" dose, I split it into two doses. It might take two days of that before the normal peristaltic movement comes back to move stuff along in my bowels.
I made a correction. I said some people might like magnesium citrate better when I meant glycinate. Magnesium citrate comes in a green bottle in liquid form. That will clear me out, but a pharmacist told me That's not something you want to use regularly. Can't remember why. Maybe it's so effective you lose electrolytes or something like that. Sorry bad memory.
