Chosing between socialization and your health?

Hello everyone :)

Im an 18 year old girl and I just started my first semester at community college. I want to get good grades and form a good group of friends because I never really had that in high school.I mean, I had people who I'd sit with and have a nice time with in class, but as for hanging out with them outside of class? That never happened, and looking back on it, it makes me quite sad :( I see them now and again on campus and what not. I have one friend whom Im really close to but he's going off to college soon, and another who's in the Marines and I haven't spoken to him for weeks.

In community college its hard to make friends because most people you only see a couple times per week, and from what I've seen, most people keep to themselves or only talk to their high school friends. As soon as the professor lets us out, everyone runs for the hills! lol It's funny and sad to watch.

Im currently taking classes everyday, but I've been thinking of dropping art so that I have Tuesday and Thursdays off just so I can rest and recuperate. (For example, today on Thursday Im home, and I dont feel too good...achy muscles, slight brain fog...If I had went for the whole week who knows how I'd be feeling on the weekend! :( )Problem is, I know that I'll be stuck in my room by myself and I dont want that. I want to be on campus everyday so that I can hopefully meet some new people, but at the same time, I cant push myself too hard because I will have a flare up.

Im thinking of joining a club that meets on Friday at noon, which is when I have time, but that's literally the only club that I'm interested in that meets on fridays, and if I dont like that club...then Im out of luck:/ Theres this other club I want to join but that meets on Thursdays, and I wont be on campus if I choose to drop art(which there is a high possibility) There are no clubs on Mondays and I wouldn't have time to join any Wednesdays clubs...

I just dont know what to do and im starting to feel lonely. I just want a good friend on campus that I can call up and offer to go to the movies with, play video games with and just hang out with...but I know that my health has to come first...what do you guys think?

I don't know your religious affiliation, but my son has met many good friends at his campus Newman Center. It's a Catholic center, though I know he has mentioned that there are a few who come who belong to other faith communities.
They have lots of fun events throughout the year, and at various times of the week. You said you attend a community college, so I'm not sure if they have Newman Centers there; though most larger colleges have them, I think. Just one idea.

Yes, it's very tricky to work around health issues. I often 'play it by ear' and go places when my body is cooperating enough that I'll enjoy myself. A delicate balance! By any chance, is there a fibro support group anywhere near you?

Um, you need to listen to your body each day, every few hours. Take stock. Plan for wellness, function, set reachable goals for that day, hour, moment-sometimes even. Plan ahead with functioning acceptably as a belief, be open to changes as needed and above all, love yourself, as you are, day by day, minute by minute, ... Sometimes I get down when I have my less well days...even on those...I really try to adjust my goals to still achieve some of the pre-planned goals for such times. My issue is vacillating self acceptance/coping with the changes.....Also-----please research what is going on in your community re the small neighborhood papers.....they usually list events going on, look up the small papers in your community via internet, there's so much usually-and you can choose a larger fish bowl to swim in, too.... Social "feeding" of the spirit is vital to wellness, coping and the "laughter" of life. Namaste !!
